I think it sounds great!  I would like to see that.

I was considering a V&H exhaust, that is supposedly made for GS and should be as easy to install as stock (i.e. just screw in the manifold) - now welding, cutting, etc.  Is V&H considered better than stock?  Also I heard that there is some issue with oil changes and V&H exhaust, not sure what that is about  :dunno_white:

How are you planning to install the system, is it going to require a lot of machine-shop type work?

acidbath

little bit of welding and a little bit of cutting.but not a lot already got it planed out i will post pics when i am done.

i just watched the soundtest video that  mike posted and i think it sounds alot better with the 1000 exhaust than with what is on it. :thumb:

still sounds like a four wheeler to me :| and to tell you the truth .. it dont sound much diffrent then the stock . if you listen to the sound on the wheelie videos i did it almost sounds the same

makenzie71

yeah it's not a big change in sound...just makes the bike heavier and takes up money.  For the bucks you'll invest you could buy a used bolt on and actually get something out of it.

acidbath

its free not paying anything for it.got a friend that took it off told me i can have it.

I've got a Wileyco bolted on and it is louder for sure and sounds a lot better.  Lower.  Rumble.  That might be something to look into.  The GSXR exhaust should look better.  I think Roadstergal put a GSXR exhaust on her last GS.

TL1000 exhaust actually. I don't remember what her verdict on it was. It's still a stock exhaust so the weight isn't significantly lower than ours. I think she put it on there mainly for looks.

It seems to me that swapping a stock exhaust for another stocker would be a waste. There are always stock gixxer exhausts on craigslist for cheap, but it would have to be free and come with a free filter and rejet kit to even be worth the time involved in installing it.

But then again, I don't know shiat about this...

I think it'd be cool to fit an R1 undertail muffler on. They look pretty cool.

Totally, but the problems are too many. That would be a tough mod. But it would go well with the '05 R6 taillight I'm about to try to install.
