Paint Costs Anyone

Anyone have any ideas for painting a GS500F, is it smarter to try a "do it yourself?" or to take it to a shop? I've heard of good results from both options...but let me know what you think.
If you have painted your bike before how much did it cost, and attach some pictures im interested in seeing if its worth the money.

We've all seen the blue and white combo on the '04... I had the white parts and the black front fender painted to match the fairing for $125 or $150... I don't really remember at the moment. I took the parts off and took them to a buddy that runs a shop.
