Source for Tapered Roller Bearings

Anyone have a good source for tapered roller bearings? I'm looking for an odd size - 30x47x15.

I'm doing a front end swap on my Yami XS11 and in cross referencing the bearings to determine the size I need, I realized that the Yamaha uses the same bearings as the GS500. The lower steering head bearing is the same for the XS, the GS, and all late model GSX-R's. So, if we can locate the 30x47x15 upper steering head bearing that would mean swapping a late model gixxer front end with the big stem would now be as easy as installing the new upper bearing, and trimming the stem down to size and tapping threads on it. No more custom steering stems and pain in the arse press fit bushings - you'd never even need to remove the gixxer stem from the triple.

I think you are on a looser my friend, I am at work now and have just searched through several bearing catalogues and cant find anything in the size you quote.  Bearings are all made to ISO standards and the size you want is not listed by any of the major bearing manufacturers. If companies like nancy boy and SKF dont make them its safe to assume no-one does. This link will show you the sizes single-row taper rollers are available in, my suggestion is to find one with the required ID and depth and a slightly smaller OD and have a tight fitting sleeve made to adapt it to fit the headstock housing.

If its any help the GS sizes are:
Top=32005 (25x47x15)
bottom=32006 (30x55x17)

Thanks. I'm having no luck either! I found an ISO 30x47x12 listed (ISO T2BD030 - also seen it listed as 32906) - I can make that work with a 3mm washer on top, but now I can't find anyone that can order me one! Even the sites that have the 30x47x12 listed say it's no longer available. DOH! The 30x48x15 is easy to get because some other cycles use it. If I can't find the right one, and it's looking that way, I'll machine a mil out of the neck. It looks like there's plenty of meat in the frame to do that, but it would have been nice to be able to do the whole swap with just a bearing swap.

Octane?
I asked one of our bearing suppliers today about the availability of the 32906 bearing. There are like rocking horse s*** and there are none here in the UK but it seems there is a worldwide trade website that bearing dealers can subscribe to where they list and advertise surplus and oddball stock. To cut to the chase he found a supplier.... in the USA..... who lists the 32906 as a stock item!

Bearing and Drive Systems Incorporated is the name of the company and they are in Strongsville Ohio. They are presently listing 4 off 32906 bearings in stock.

E-mail address is sales@BDSbearing.com contact name is paul.

Good Luck. :thumb:

Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?
