Here's a link to some pics of the '02 GS500 I bought last week.  $2500 and 741 miles!

Bike is for my brother who wants to learn to ride.  The bike had been sitting for 2 years.  I drained the tank and pulled the carbs today.  The left carb was gummed up but not to bad.  I cleaned them real good and reinstalled.  It's running great now.  Only got to take it out for about 10 miles before it started raining.  Hopefully, I will get to thrash it all day tomorrow.  Also resealed the valve cover gasket as it was weeping at the front.

Very sharp and clean-other than the moss growing in the left carb. :icon_lol: That's one bike that the previous owner took great care of.

Beautiful!  Clean!  With the exception of the moss (if we only still had leaded gas that wouldn't happen).
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

Damn, I need to find a bike JUST like that. Err... well maybe minus the moss and in California...

Nice pics of the carb clean up.  :thumb:

You should do a "how to" for the FAQ section. You are half way there.

Did you get the bike local or via an online auction. Do you want to add the VIN to the GS Census?

Bought it on E-bay.  it was about 300 miles away in Tulsa Ok.  I'm in Fort Worth Tx.
What is the GS Census?  A database of GS info?  I'm not familiar with it.

Thanks,

Blueknyt,

I saw the carb rebuild tutorial in the FAQ section.  I referenced it before I took mine apart.  Good info there.

Moditup, mine will probably be for sale late summer though, however I'm sure you'll find one sooner.
