I searched the archives, but didn't get anything definitive.

When I took the GS in to the shop, I found that it had never been rejetted after the former owner put on a V&H pipe.  I don't know how long it's had the pipe, but I'm wondering if rejetting is something I should look into soon.  The guy at the shop said it's no big deal, but I figured I'd check with the GS experts.

(Right now, there's a lot of popping when engine braking.  Problem?)

Also, I want to get a bungee net to hold a small bag.  How big should the net be?

Thanks for any help...

As far as I know, bungee nets only come in one size.

It should be rejetted.  Start with having him pull the brass plugs over the mix screws and turning those out to 3 full turns out.  Then size 40 non-bleed pilot jets.  And, finally shim the needle (.5-1mm up) and change the main jets.

Edit: According to this jetting matrix: http://gstwins.com/gsboard/index.php?topic=4865.msg39205#msg39205
You should not have to change out the mains, or shim up the needle.  This I do not agree with fully.  At least, shim up the needle one shim of .5mm thickness and go up to size 125 mains.

Maybe, if you have the time and can afford it (timewise or $), modify it in stages to see what will get rid of the popping (which is somewhat normal on deceleration with a pipe); again I suggest just the mix screws and pilot jets.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

you should re-jet the bike will run so much better.

in terms of the cargo net, they usually come in sizes like 9, 12 and 15, I think its square feet. square feet being the maximumit can stretch. really it doesn't matter what size you get, the all stretch and hold just about anything. if your going to get one, you might as well get the bigger one.

That popping noise is probably caused by back fires in your intake because of running too lean.   You don't want that to happen, but I'd think a rejet would fix it
