Advice an experienced rider gave me when I first started: "Rubber side down..."

Bah, I just realized I signed up for the newbie BARF ride on the same day. On one hand, I wanna get to know the roads. On the other hand, I'll be pulling my carbs out and cleaning them soon, so this would be great after that. What time were you guys thinking of doing this, maybe I could make both.

We were thinking of starting at about 9....isn't that around the time the newbie ride starts?

Hope you can manage both!  :icon_mrgreen:

Brett, you're riding up from LA!?  Wow!!  If so, we'll put you first on the list, so you can make the newbie ride.

Oh, haha. Not to ruin your image of me as a totally badass iron-butt rider, but I'm moving back up to Norcal in a week or so. I'll be "riding up" from Los Gatos by then. Sorry to disappoint. ;)

Back on hand, could one of you PM me where this is gonna be? The newbie ride starts 10 AM in Woodside, so before would probably be cutting it close. They say the ride will be around 3-4 hours, so I probably wouldn't be back until 3 or so at best. Bah, I dunno, gotta think about which one I want/need more I guess.

I'll be sending out address/directions tomorrow! If I miss someone, PM or e me.  :thumb:

scratch can best advise about whether both are do-able....   :)

Get here @ 9 have you out 9:20, Hwy 85 to 17 to 9 to 35 to Woodside.  And, that's the fun route!  But, you might be late unless you do semi-legal speeds...or, you get trapped behind cars on 9 and 35 (that would suck*).

*(Majorly...)

(...dude)

Edit: Nope, checked the map 280 all the way to Woodside, you wont make it.  Go to the ride first, if you so choose.

I still plan on coming but the 20th is smack in the middle of finals (or maybe just after?) so I'm still not totally sure.  I'm only really thinking out 3 or 4 days ahead at the moment

anybody else doing oil changes?  it's getting close to time for me and I don't really have a spot here to do it

the people on the harmony central forums are planning something for that night so I don't know if I can make a ride

Not that I know of, but bring your own oil, and you're welcome to DIY! We have a pan to catch the oil, and we have a recycling program for the old oil.  :thumb:

i am getting ready to send my gs for service (valves, oil change and all the neat things), so the carbs will need to be serviced too? (do the guys at the shop do that as part of the service?)
Anyway, I could go and provide video coverage... but from chico to sunnyvale is around 200+ miles and i'm still really hurt from a shoulder since last year car accident (got rear-ended). I will seriously think about it.
Caturday yet?

scratch

Yes.  If you told them tune & service, then yes, they should balance the carbs.

I'd be interested in going, I am still on n00b patrol and so I can't drive on freeways, but if I can get there, I'll go.  When's a good not-taken time for carb adjustment?

pandy

The time's for carb syncings are open right now. I'll PM you the info, and hopefully you can get to us on side streets!

Let us know if you can make it and what's a good time for you!  :thumb:

Looks like I will be on my own, the girlfriend wants to chill out at home.  So, thinking I might have a project for those just chilling out.  I have some frame sliders that need to get attached to my Daytona 675.  Strip her naked then put them on?  Will there be a stand kicking around that I could use?  A torque wrench?
