:icon_mrgreen:  YAY!  Even though she doesn't want her own moto ( ), she wants to ride on the back of mine. :thumb: (I'll take it)...

I've been working on getting her to try on gear... And she finally found stuff!!!!!!!!!  And... It's cool stuff!  Her taste is not far from mine.

Helmet: Scorpion EXO-700 Fury (Silver) - XS

Jacket:  Icon Tuscadero (White) - XS

Still need to find Gloves, Boots, and Pants...  Then I need to practice riding with a passenger.

I hope it doesn't suck tooooo much. :icon_confused:

you know the drill (no, not that drilling)... lean with me, look toward the turn when I take one, lift your butt on bumps, give me space when braking, keep your feets on the pegs at all times, pat on shoulder mean 'I wanna pee', pat on stomach mean 'I want to go shoe shooping', pat on helmet means 'i am scared, please stay below 35mph'...
and of course, don't crash hemlets too often (specially when stopping).\

tires pressure, brake early, be ready to put both feet down at stoplights, don't let her put her helmet on back seat (you may kick it when dismounting). etc
Caturday yet?

Good friggen point!  I meant to look for codes...  Anyone have any other good ones?  Is there any sort of "standard guide" (yeah, I know it sounds stupid, but if I can just read a well-thought out guide, rather than coming up with my own, my life will be .01% easier.)

She's ridden with other people before (when I said I hated motorcycles, that only suicidal people rode them, and that I'd NEVER get one)...  So, she has some experience being a passenger.

Please tell her NOT to put her feet down at a stop light.  Light turns green with her feet on the ground.  You take off.  Wifey is standing there in the road!  Which would be funny.  Er, not to wifey.  Plus she'll burn her leg on the muffler.

This is what was told to me in the MSF course, too.

I was told at MSF that you should tell the rear passanger to look over the shoulder that you are turning into.  If you turn right have your wife look over your right shoulder if you turn left have her look over your left shoulder.  It helps them with the leaning.  And what Jake D said was mentioned also.

I rode with her once about 7 months ago...  She didn't put her feet down...  But, I put her whole body down when I dropped the GS.

That's really what I'm worried about...  But, I had NO experience riding last time I rode with her... :nono:

Maybe she would be safer if you'd do some squats.  Maybe strengthen your quads a little.  Do some lat pulls.  You know.  If you want to know more, feel free to visit my website: www.bodybyjake.com

Good luck!

BASTARD!  It wasn't about strength... It was about being a crappy rider.

Oh, you don't have to tell me!!  She tried on the jacket and helmet and I went :o  :kiss3: LET'S GO HOME NOW!!!  Next comes the leather pants and riding boots...   :icon_mrgreen:  I think I'll have to help her break in her new gear.

I'm lucky...kalee has always been an exceptional pillion...leans with me and never tries to counter, pays attention to all our surroundings, handles emergencies pretty well (remains calm, keeps her feet on the pegs, etc), and she waves at all the other bikes, kids and cops as mandated by Pillion Rules.  All I had to do basically was tell her what to do on the bike and she did it.  A big thing is to make sure that there are good hand signals you two can use for basic communication...that you can both register (kalee knocks on my helmet if we need to stop for something and I grab her wrist briefly if I need her to hang onto me tightly...for example).

She's pretty dainty, though.  I usually have a hard time finding apparel for her to wear that's rally propperly suited for riding.  I did learn something cool this last weekend, though...Harley Davidson dealers have some really small, high quality, comfortable and well fitting gloves.  If you can get over the HD logo and $50 tag, that'll be a good place to look.  The ones I got for kalee are made of 1.5oz full leather and have snaps at the wrist...good design.

RVertigo

Yeah...  The wife likes these gloves, but I'm not so sure about them...

The cuff doesn't go over the jacket either...  I think I'm going to torture her some more into looking at more gloves...  I'll check the HD dealer...  So far, she's only checked out gloves at once place...  And they had nothing that fit.

makenzie71

It'll actually be hard to find decent gauntlets that are comfortable for her...I've tried.  I settled for just finding something that'd cover her wrist and a propperly fitting jacket.

badkarma506

seattle cycle has a decent selection of carnie clothes.  so then you'll have to remember to tell me to lead when we go riding this summer, so i'm not "distracted"
the left side of the bike is always from the riders point of view.

I'm going thru the same process of buying gear for my wife. Found a sweet deal on eBay and got her a new Shoei RF1000 for $185--with graphics too! It was cheap b/c it is an xxs. I'm not excited about buying the rest of the gear though... $$$$$
