Headlight bulbs.

I know out GS500f models use the H4 bulb.

I'm looking to get the yellow bulbs.  Anyone got any pics of this on their GS?

im thinking visibility would suck with a yellow bulb. Havent actually seen colored bulbs that were actually bright other than the superwhite hid bulbs.

I would suggest going with slyvania silverstar bulbs - very white and very bright. Pretty close to HID according to the packaging -one step down but better than the 'cool blue' lights.
I have the bulb and while riding in the mountains my buddy asked me to take the lead because my 'measly little GS500 headlight' was better than his two VFR lights!!

Actually amber light has it's place.  It's less suseptible to distortion by rain and fog and stuff...but it is lower on the spectrum, less intense.  Range and useable pattern both suck.

Mak is right about the rain and fog...  I live in MA, where the weather SUCKS!!!

I've actually seen a bike with the yellow bulbs one night, and it was NO-TIC-ABLE!  Yellow stands out cause NO ONE has 'em.

yeah, guys. but without the challenging weather, yellow bulbs are still not the best. i guess it all depends on the person. i need all the helpi can to see at night. Yellow wouldnt work out for me

I've read a lot about headlight color 'cause the headlights in my F.O.R.D. totally SUCK!!!!!!!!!

You have a lot of options...  You can use "colored" lights, which have colored glass or a film that changes the color of the light emitted...  These are usually cheap and crappy...  And they DO lower the amount of light coming from the filament.

Then you have filters...  A filter that blocks the blue light coming from the filament, thus shinning a yellow looking light on the road...  But, making the light itself look blueish.  These are usually really expensive and don't lower the amount of "effective" light coming from the bulb, it only lowers the light frequency that adds to glare... Blue.

Then you have the worst lights possible...  They actually project a blue light on the road.  They totally add to the glare and make driving in the rain even worse.

Yellow light reacts differently to water in the air and on the road, which is why they're totally great for bad weather (rain, fog, snow)...  But, they are not as bright in total (as already stated by other people)...

HID lights are usually just a more intense white (yellowish) light...  But, the best lights for visibility are the (whachamacallit) arc lights...  They don't use a standard filament like older style lights...  They actually use a very small arc of electricity and magnify it...  They are actually WHITE, rather than being a very bright yellow...  You see these types of lights on really expensive luxury cars.  They totally suck to have behind you, but they rule to have in your car.


I wish I wasn't too lazy to find the pages I used to do my research......  What I learned was that I was too cheap to get good lights on my Exploder.
