Sooo... I went riding today. Came back home and I realized something... there's rust under the throttle rubber!  look at the images:

do I have to take something apart?  :dunno_white:
Caturday yet?

You might if you want to remove the rust.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

good judgement trumps good skills every time.

no you dont really have to take anything apart. I took out my whode bar-end assembly including the rubber fasteners & saw that too. It's just rust on the very end of the handlebar where it's not coated. no biggie... mine's an 04F.

its not a true gs without the rust

GeeP

Don't worry about it.  A little rust never killed anything.  Plus, as mcij said, it really isn't a GS without rust.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

You can probably put some grease on your nuts to stop them from rusting.

I found some rust on my '04's bar end, but couldn't check the bars because they are gone. I have some aftermarket barends on there now, and have yet to have that problem with them.

I don't know about you, but I got mine for riding, not watching. ;-)

My 05' GS500F looked just like that the first day I rode out of the Suzuki dealership. It did not bother me too much though, I live about 50 yards from the Gulf of Mexico, so I just carefully sprayed a little WD-40 in there just like I have to do with practicaly everything I own that goes outside. Grease might work for you, but I get sand stuck on everything I put grease on !  Just my thoughts !  P.S. Dont spray WD-40 on rubber.   :2guns:
Being naked was great, but now that I'm older I thought I should cover up!!!!

Mods?  What mods, no really its stock!!

groff22

Yep, my throttle has looked like that since I bought the bike... I don't grease my nuts, except when I put hte bike away for the winter.. The stuff I use is called Krown.

Bah... Can't stop all problems... And if you are try to prevent ALL problems, then the more problems you will have ... just ride the thing into the ground, you think? NO PROBLEM!  ;)
