ive looked everywhere and cant fine fuel line thats as thin is it came on the bike. i know that differences with fuel hoses and fuel inj. and what there for on a car, but the bike doesnt really have an psi its just gravity so i thought so would any hose work as long as gas wont eat through it. i took a pic of the hose i bought. it says ok for gas and chemicals. would this be good or bad to use and also the heat factor cause how hot it well get being near the engine. or where should i go to get fuel lines that thin?

thanks

sorry for such a small pic.

That says it's okay for gasses and chemicals, that means gaseous substances, not fuel.

Go to the autoparts store (NAPA, Autozone, Carquest, etc) and ask for fuel hose in the appropriate size.  Hose is measured by it's inside diameter in 1/8ths of an inch.

Clear vinyl tubing is NOT acceptable for fuel.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

I'm going to try some 5/16" I.D. polyurethane hose, not sure where I'll get it yet though.  I've seen it at bikebandit and denniskirk.com.  I got the idea from this thread, among others.

You must have some poorly stocked auto parts stores around there then.  1/4" is the standard automotive fuel hose size.  Hell, even the farm store out here carries 1/4" hose.

I think you're either not asking for the right stuff, or you're not really looking.   :dunno_white:

Automotive fuel hose has a Buna-N or similar core, a Nylon braid, and a Vinyl sheath.  Do not substitute Vinyl, Poly, etc. tube for fuel hose.  Tube is a single-layer product and does not have the chemical or mechanical properties required.  Tubing tends to chafe through very easily, kinks easily, and does not support hose clamps very well.

So, what size ARE our fuel hoses?

7mm I.D.  which is very hard to find.  1/4" is a little small and 5/16" is a little big, but supposedly both will work.

I was just trying to take up for poor Cusimano.  Everyone was berating him for saying that auto parts stores didn't carry 1/4 and/or 5/16 fuel line when he was wanting clear fuel line.  :)
