welcome....now go home! j/k. your take on it is exactly what I expected and your description of the dynamics of your site sounds about the same as here.

Well, I'm glad you posted here, Isaac; I owned a '93 EX, and I'll own another (newer) EX someday, though I can't stand that stupid "Ninja" nonsense; Kawasaki put a disc brake on the thing in '94, and overnight, it became a "Ninja 500"... what complete BULLSHIT! OK, so it makes perfect sense when you consider the marketing side of the equation... Kawasaki is trying to get young riders in the door, hoping to build brand-loyalty over time; that is the same reason why Suzuki finally put a fairing on the GS... FWIW, I enjoyed reading about your prank; maybe the excessive "brand-vanity" will be dialed down somewhat as a consequence...

You can bet my next EX will NOT have "Ninja" stickers on it for long, though I won't complain about the 17" wheels, upgraded brakes, 37mm fork tubes, and other improvements that Kawasaki made in the transition from "EX500" to "Ninja500"... The four-way flashers and the adjustable clutch lever on the EX are long overdue for the GS, but I doubt they'll ever be added at the factory, unless Suzuki wants another excuse to raise the retail price.

Since I started riding before multi-valve heads and watercooled motorcycle engines became popular, my GS reminds me of my air-and-oil-cooled roots; the EX is a more modern design (four-valves per cylinder, liquid-cooling)... both designs have individual strengths and weaknesses, and I appreciate both motorcycles equally.

I hope you'll remind your members often that Kawasaki and Suzuki merged several years ago; they are now under one management umbrella, so the cross-brand insults are incredibly ignorant. No matter which one they buy, the money goes to the same stockholders... so you should tell them to just STFU and get over it... I get the impression that GSTwins seems to have more old-timers and re-entry motorcyclists, and ex500riders seems to have more of the still-wet-behind-the-ears crowd; there is plenty of room for both types on the 'net, and I have no doubt that most of the people who post on your site would be welcomed here. There is at least one former GSTwins member (MPA) who previously posted here, before he bought his EX, and I'm glad he found a motorcycle that he so obviously enjoys owning and riding...

Motorcyclists have enough problems without sniping at each other; people who need to think that their motorcycle is superior to any other have problems I don't want to deal with. Their inadequate personalities don't allow them to accept that some other motorcycle might be just as good (or even BETTER) than whatever POS they happen to own at the time, so they choose to denigrate and insult people who don't agree with their biased views. The best motorcycles are well-maintained and well-ridden; everything else is just background noise...

I scouted a couple threads....they a good bunch o'er there....for the most part.  There was the expected Suzuki sucks.... contribution to a Bandit 1200S query but that poster was quickly called on his useless brevity.  :)

Really, though, GS500 taunting by a Ninja 500 owner is akin to a locker room scene where both parties are better off keeping their shorts on.
also akin to the anti harley crowd or the anti triumph crowd or....

Stop all this nonsense now, guys, before someone rips a pocket protector!

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

Let it be known that I, nor any other member of the EX500Riders.com administration, hold any ill will toward this site, or the GS in general.  The general populace is a bit more...biased, shall we say, and they tend to show it in interesting ways.  I especially apologize for the one known as "Super Sneaky Steve;" we're still trying to figure him out.

Well I for one always liked the ex500.  It's a great track bike.  The ex is every bit as durable and reliable as the GS.  I think the new 650 may end up replacing it, but then again the sv650 didn't replace the GS.  Both bikes fill the same niche.

Why do people get so friggin gung ho about "my bike is better" shaZam!.  I have a Z1000, the wife a zx6R -do you see me saying Suzuki sucks and Kawi rulez the earth (which of course it does)?  No.

Stop stirring up shaZam! for no reason.  They are both great bikes.  Period.  If they want to knock the GS then let them.  It's their problem.  I personally don't think we should be knocking them.

So what if they are knocking the site?  I't a bit dated, but so what.  If they don't like it they can say it.  Let it go.  I will take the high road, let the owner do whatever he/she wants over there.  If he/she has a hard on for this site then it's his problem -it's verry telling about a person.

John, you forgot to mention that the EX is as ugly as a bag of rubber nipples.*

Just kidding.  The Littlest Ninja is a sweet ride.  Big ups to any man (AJ) man enough to rock the 500!  Even Annie has a ZX6R!
