...a gsxr 750, which are beautiful, but I cherish the use of my legs.

the ergos arent THAT bad. sv1000 is a powerful bike but if you have miles under your belt it should be fine. I assume you're talking about 2-up riding? Consider the katana 750 too-you migh tlike the wind protection.

I aint using hip lingo baby....too old. I minsunderstood you. 2-up is two riders on one bike. if the new bike is for you get teh gsxr750! best all around street bike around! Im serious. Of the list you have there I'd say get the sv650 instead of the sv1000. the sv650 is just as much fun if not more fun than the bigger bike.

all those bikes will feel significantly more powerful. the sv1000 will feel like it wants to rip your arms out of your sockets at wide open throttle....

I'd agree with the SV650. The ergos are pretty good (fairly close to the GS), and it has plenty of power for just about anything. I've heard of a lot of people putting serious miles touring on them, so they can't be that bad  :thumb:
2006 SV650 K6....Finally back up and running!!! Now let the mods flow!

I'll let some others chime in tonight and the following days so I'll end my contribution by saying that based on the new criteria I think the sv650s is the bike for you.

Heh the first time i rode a 33hp bike i felt the same way :)) ofcourse that feeling goes away after some riding.

Dont buy SV1000 if you will ride in the city, it is made for terrorizing highways. And you wont be able to use the power without leaving your girl few miles behind on a GS500.

With SV650 you can still be fast, and do some show-off's.

So i vote for SV650(S) too. Thats what i will upgrade to.

I had a gs as my first bike. sold it and bought an 05 zx6r.  decided i wanted a second bike and got an sv650..

All in all..  my zx6r is imho more comfortable for me than the sv.  the sv has a really really hard seat.  the zx6r pulls like a train... at about 8-9k+.  the sv650 feels like it has more power down low, and is easier to 'cruise around town' on..

i've ridden an sv1k.. i like the 650 better.  I bought a naked one only because i didn't want to spend a lot - i like the 'squared' look of the s's.

the zx6r seems much better in the mtns (although i've only put 100 miles or so on the sv, and haven't taken it to the hills yet.)

I'd say the 650 SVS would make you extremely happy, no need for the 1k. If you did want a treat go for the GSXR 750 though.  :thumb:

I might go kawi 650 over suzi 650, just cuz I think the SV is kinda ugly and on the highway I'd like a full fairing.   :dunno_white:

I would look to the SV650.  Those bikes are great- rock solid reliability, religious following, countless upgrades, and a well balanced power plant.  Once I graduate, that is going to be the first thing I buy.  Perfect street maching that could easily be used at a track bike.  It is still comfortable, cheap, cheap to insure, etc.

Well I kinda want a Naked Bike, its just kinda unique

What about the Bandit 600 or 1200?
Its a Suzuki that will go/look well with the GS. Has everything you said you were looking for. Still look great (until the next revision). You can even find older naked versions, or strip the half fairing off and make it naked...

Depends on what your definition of "comfortable" is?
Comforable enough for 30 minute racetrack sessions?
Comfortable compared to a Ducati 999?
Comfortable compared to a GS500?
Not even close.

Well, I guess once in a while I would ride 1.5 hours freeway, and then maybe once a year or less for about 5 hours. But mostly around town and for fun.
