I posted a few weeks ago about my new to me '90 GS.  It was haveing some problems at idle.  I cleaned the carbs and reset the idle.  It runs great now! Thanks to those who replied to my questions:)

Here's something new.  The front disc is loose.  It has some vertical movement.  I am concerned about this.  I don't know the technical term, but the rings that connect the outer part of the disc to it's center seems to be the reason for the movement.  Is this common?   What do I need to do to fix the problem?  With that there is some fuel troubles.  I need to switch from the ON posiistion to Pri sometimes because the bikes bogs out.  I just filled up with gas the other day think it could just be the bike running low on fuel.  I have more then half a tank right now and the problem came back.  Could there be additional problems with the carbs?

One last thing,  is there anyone in the Portland, Oregon area?  Looking for some riders!

Thanks

As long as you don't have excessive play that's OK. Those rings are called floaters. For a reason. The rotor is supposed to have some axial movability in order to find it's way in the caliper. Now you report some radial play as well, but that will go away when braking as the floaters lock back in their seats, centering the rotor.

The needing to switch to PRI isuue is a pretty common illness of the GS. The old petcock seems to get fuel flow issues, especially when aging. The diaphragm hardens, limiting fuel flow.
