Heres some of the progress I have made on my 2005 GS500F that i am making into a naked bike.

sorry for the crappy picture, but that is how i got the bike, it had a purple front rim, the fairing was off it, no headlight, gauges and bent handle bars, here is where i am at now.

I got actually extremely close to the rear rim colour with just spray bombs, i only got the paint chewed up in one spot on the rim when i was putting the caliper back on, but its not noticeble, so i will leave it until i change tires, then have both rims powder coated either silver, or high gloss black.

I decided to bite the bullet and just order a brand new insturment cluster, i am getting the bracket, the guages and the back plastic part, i have everything else to make it go, so thats all i am doing for gauges, and the headlight, i am using chrome ears with a chrome 6.25 inch headlight

What do you think?

Edit, I want to put a whole exhaust on this, I was thinking about scooping up the Micron exhaust with header at my work, but it is off an EX500, 1995 (i think) will this work, or do i have to cut part of my header and use the Micron muffler as a slip on?

Is there any more options for a full exhaust? and what should i expect to be paying?

Thanks,

the naked black bike looks really good.

if you put on some lower handlebars it will look awesome.

those were the lowest bars i had that were comfortable when sitting/riding it

I tried about 3 different bars, and those where the nicest

Thanks,

1st off, you should probably use a 7" headlight, as that's what came stock on the old GSes and what will work with our bikes. I did the naked conversion on mine and used a headlight housing, bucket, reflector, and mounting brackets, off my old '92 and it worked perfectly.

As for the full exhaust... a search will reveal what you need, but basically no full exhausts made for the F model, minus the Laser one, which will run you about $450-$500 minimum. It's best to do a slip on.

I held up both a 6.25 inch and a 7 inch, i liked the 6.25 one better, plus, i got the whole thing, bucket ring, bulb, and the light itself for 50 bucks brand new.

I will check into that Micron Exhaust and see if it can be used as a slip on or not.
