Just curious how much modification is needed to fit the Vance and Hines supersport exhaust onto a 2004 GS500F. Has anyone out there put one of these on this year or newer bike? Was it worth the money or would a slip on be the better way to go? Thanks for any help.

Buy a slip on. There's been one guy who said he fit it on there, but never showed us how it mounted up or cleared the oil pan bolts. I've seen the clearance between a V&H and an old GS oil pan, and there is not enough room in there for the oil pan on the '04 and ups. I've also tried fitting a Yoshimura full system to my bike, and it would have taken a lot of work to get it mounted.

Go with the slip on. You'll save yourself a lot of heartache and frustration.

Thanks alphafire for your input... I think you've steered me in the direction I was headed anyway.
Just so you guys know, the search doesn't always answer every question so a few minutes of your time wouldn't hurt now would it.

Plus, the V&H can that comes on the Supersport exhaust is kind of small. It doesn't really look very good in comparisson with a slip on you could get. I think a nice looking Yosh can would be far better aesthetically than the V&H system's can.

Sorry, just don't have a lot of time to spend doing the research that's all. Thought someone out there could help...
Atleast I found this site as it looks like it is going to be very useful in the end.

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.
