i just moved to West LA, and was wondering if there was a decent place on the west side to buy gear. i need some new gloves bad. i ordered some online, but they were not as they seemed.  i need to try them on before i buy. Anywhere i should check out? i work in Malibu and live around Culver City/Palms...so anywhere somewhat on the way would be ideal...but whatever.

Thanks in advance!

I haven't found much in west LA so far. There's a Cycle Gear in Lomita and another in Newhall. I imagine both are about as far for you. If you feel like going for a drive, Bert's is probably 45 minutes east but they had a really good selection the one time I was there. If you are down in Orange County sometime, there's the Dainese store which has by far the best selection of Dainese gloves. Being Dainese they are of course more pricey, but I've been able to find some good closeout deals there before.

try cycle products west on Pico, just east of bundy-small selection of gear but well priced. I get all my tires there since they have the cheapest installed prices around.

also Hammy boys on lincoln, just south of Pico has a decent selection (for a small shop). service there is pricy. parts can be too.

both in santa monica.

I've heard lots of people rave about cycle gear over the years. they also offer flat insurance on new tire purchases, so if you get a flat within a certain amount of time (dunno what that is) they replace it. less satisfied customers there lately though.

Not too many places I know of in west LA. I suggest you find a place to try on gear and when you've found what you like, order from Terra Power Sports. They ship quick and are a lot cheaper than any place else in SoCal.

Thanks guys. Pablo, i checked out Cycle Products West a while back. They only had one decent pair of street gloves, and they were too big for me.

Any thoughts about Marina Suzuki? It's close to where i live, and supposedly they have an upstairs "gear shop" or something. i went by there yesterday as they were locking up and riding/driving off. i was going to try and get there a little earlier today.

i've ordered nearly all my gear so far from motorcyclesuperstore.com. They've been good...but i want to get some gloves i can try on. And they have free shipping, but only after $100...and i can't spend that on gloves right now. So, if i get some $60 gloves locally, it'd be about the same as the same gloves online + shipping.

i saw some sweet alpinestars gloves 40% off at a dealer in Anaheim i got my clutch cable from a few months back. My wife actually told me to get them...and in my foolishness said, "No, i don't need to spend any more money on gear." Wow. i'm an idiot. As someone mentioned in another thread...wives are always right.

If you dont mind a nice ride up PCH check out Cal Coast Motorsports in Ventura. If you had up PCH till it turns into a freeway, and get off the first exit, turn right, continue until you get to the 101 N and its right off the freeway a few miles up. they have a decent selection.

Or if you want to ride to the butt of the world, you can go to Berts Megamall. they have loads of stuff you can try on but I wouldnt recommend buying from them.

Marina Suzuki has some stuff and if its close its worth a look.

You should look at newenough.com instead of motorcyclesuperstore if you're going online...

LA Cyclesports in Inglewood (where I bought my RR) has a small accessories shop too-probably a little bigger than Marina Suzuki's and its not too far.

I'm in west LA as well. I got a decent pair of Joe Rocket gloves at Honda of Hollywood (on Santa Monica Blvd right before Vine I think). Tried on jackets and helmets there too. Then ordered those sizes from newenough.com.

Not to threadjack or anything, but does anyone have any experience with Marina Suzuki? How are they as a dealership? Service?
