fixing oil leak. Need torque value.

Hello all,

I have an oil leak from the left crankcase gasket. I would lilke to replace one, but my service manual book hasn't been  shipped from Aamzon yet and I probably won't get it for another week. I was wondering if somebody could scan  the page that shows the tightening sequence and torque values.

Also, are genuaine Suzuki gaskets generally better than after market? In particular, I can get Suzuki gasket for $8 or the whole set of Athena gaskets for $103 from the dealer.

initial torque 13Nm = 9.5ftlbs
final torque 20-24Nm = 15-18tflbs
(edit - I don't see any mention of a tightening sequence. I just follow a star pattern as best I can, never failed yet)

oh yeah -  Athena is an established gasket company. I would use them.

usually a gasket is a gasket, most use the same standards. I would be wary of "bob's homemade gaskets" otherwise most available are of standard quality.

I'm sure you will here horror stories of this gasket over that one, but all in all a gasket will only be as good as the mechanic who installed it.
