I was wonering if any of you may have some insight on some of my electrical issues.  My bike's battery dies on my recently.  I purchased a new battery and charged it with a motorcycle charger for like 35 hours maybe, until I noticed that it began switching to float mode or maintenence mode (indicating it was fully charged).  I put the new battery in and nothing.  I hooked it up tot eh charger again, while in the bike and I turned the key and no light or dication of any power.  So I am starting to think that maybe I blew a fuse or something like that.  I checked the ow by the poistive terminal (20amps) and it seemed fine.

I'm starting tog et frustrated because I'm loosing out on prime riding weather.  So if any of you have any suggestion or insight, it would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I had a problem almost exactly like this a couple months back. I bought a brand new battery and had it filled and charged it properly. Installed it..and nothing. If I grounded it myself with the negative probe of the multimeter, it would work but as soon as I took away the ground: it died. So I put re-charged my old battery and put it back in, and it works beautifully. Turns out, the negative terminal inside the battery is frocked. *smacks forhead*

So me thinks you might have a similar problem: the new battery is likely crap. But replace the fuse anyway, just for giggles. I mean, come on it is just a lil fuse  :icon_razz:

Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

+1, but I wonder if you checked the fuse under the cap/connector of the starter relay?

If you pulled the visible fuse next to the battery box, you checked the spare. The employed fuse is under a latching cap/connector on the starter relay.

Here's a (bad) pic of the relay and cap/connector

Gee I need to take some new photos of electrics and get the new page up.
