So I have cleaned my carbs once or twice to get my new bike to run right. I definitely can say it runs quite a bit better but then this comes up as I was looking at the Clymer.

I have no- needle jet tubes (?  #30) in either carb. WTF.

EDIT: here is the url #30 in the picture http://houseofmotorcycles.bikebandit.com/partsbandit/oem_schematic_view~schem_dept_id~725131~section_dept_id~1~section_dept_name~OEM+%28Stock%29+Parts~dept_type_id~2~model_dept_year~1996~model_dept_mfr~Suzuki~model_dept_id~703270~model_dept_name~GS500ET.asp#stay

So.. i guess its possible for our bikes to run without them... just not well.  :icon_rolleyes:

I don't think so.  The main jet screws into the end of the emulsion (needle jet)  tube.  Without that tube the bike could not run.

hmm.. perhaps it was in there. I definitely didn't see it inorder to remove it.

its there.  I had the same WTF.  you will have to force it out of its hiding hole.  mine was really tight.

I screwed the jet back in and tapped it gently out.(edit *****wait that might not be right!!!!!!***)

Clymers is not the best reference for this though. sorry I don't know what is. clymers makes it seem like you can easily grab it with a pair of plyers.

not true in my case.  good luck  :thumb:

I don't remeber if screwing the jet back in worked or not.
I remember trying it though, I also remeber trying to use a really small screw driver oon the lip of the tube and tapp it out.

either way it had to be tapped out. cause it was stuck.

I have a spare carb at home I'll check it out tonight and even take pics for ya

(edit***

look here http://www.gstwin.com/carb_work.htm
the 5th pic , the instructions say to tap the main jet to loosen the tube.  this should do it for ya.

~Man I am bored!!  I get paid to do this!!!!  :icon_twisted:

Easiest way to take it out is to unscrew the main jet, insert a brass punch of appropriate diameter, and hit it a couple of times with the palm of your hand.  Don't use steel.  You don't want to scratch up anything, as it could alter the fuel flow.
