Jake D's most awsome weekend ever!

So I put about 200 miles on the SV 650 S this weekend.

I'd say at least 100 of that was on the twisties.

For any of you local guys, aka Destro, Calispec, et al., I did Wyandotte County Lake like 6 times until the Park Ranger started giving me the stink eye.
It is a super twisty 6 or 7 mile loop around a lake through the woods.  I was hanging off and going way too fast but loving it.

Then I did a fast run up Highway 5 from Kansas City, Kansas to Leavenworth Kansas.  What a hoot.  I passed like 7 other riders, so it is obviously a popular ride.  A lot faster than the lake run.  On my way back, a guy on a bike got behind me and I rode as hard as he could.  Every time I would peek in my mirror, there he was.  It was a blast.

I was almost giddy the entire weekend.  I am having a blast.

Jarrett you ignorant my mama...

Jake D

Sorry 3imo.

Hey, Destro!  Maybe would could go for a ride next weekend.  You could show me proper riding style and I'll show you my newly discovered twisties?

Have you ever been to either of those spots?

Maybe meet up down town and ride out to Kansas, hit some twisties.

What do you say?

I need to get a Ninja 250 for my girlfriend.

Oh, also I got a new helmet this weekend.  An HJC AC-11 or 12.  Can't remember.  I rode down to Cafe Racer in the west bottoms and got it for like $95.  I really like it.

Cafe Racer is a really cool motorcycle shop.  You can do Dyro runs there for like $40 and dyno tuning (on my SV) for like $160.

Sorry, I can't this weekend, I have to go to western Kansas for my Brother's HS graduation. Maybe next weekend.  :thumb:

I haven't been out to the Dot riding or Highway 5, but have heard good things about it. I rode around Shawnee Mission lake last fall, but it was with a newb and pretty slow paced, I let him lead. Still a fun little jaunt.  We will definitely have to get out soon though. I need to do some riding that doesn't involve slabbing it.  I am sure you will smoke me 9in the twisties though. Looking forward to the humiliation.  O0

Nah.  I suck.  Just a few MPH over the speed limit, maybe 10 or so.  Pretty relaxed pace.

We'll take turns leading, so who is slower, and then let the slow buy (me) lead.  Plus, on Hwy 5, I may know the lay of the land better.  And I found the hidden stop sign.  Can you say "panic stop"?

We can run out to Shawnee Mission too.  I haven't been there for years and can't remember how to get there.  I'll PM you next week.

WyCo Lake is reall, really twisty.  And there are so many trees that you can't see very far at all.  So you never know when Mr. Park Ranger is going to be coming along.

After my 6th or so circuit around the lake, I pulled up into their main parking area to rest.  The park ranger parked his truck right behind my bike and just sat there.  He wouldn't leave so I said screw it and just rode off.  The only straight section is across the dam.  The rest is linked turns.  So much fun.

This thread sucks...the story does not go with the title.

Rich, we'll miss you, and never forget you. <3

'04 GS500F...Anyone from Jersey wanna ride?

Destro

It started out pretty on-topic, but I prefer to thread jack. Plus, I am not cute enough to garner responses to PM's.

I totally PM'ed you back, but I don't check the intra-net on the weekend. . . so sorry.

But we are going to go riding next weekend.

Maybe check out Smithville Lake too.  Some guys from KCSB.com go there to ride.  That is my old neck of the woods.  I went to Kearney High School.

Amanda. . . sorry.  I know what you were expecting.  I was thinking about you, dear.  But only right before I went to bed.

I sent that PM this morning.  And what is this about no computer?  What kind of high powered attorney does not have a computer at their swanky downtown loft?
You will defintiely have to lead, just be sure to wait up for me at the stop points!

I am a simple man.

When I am at home, I am either a) working out b) drinking c) reading d) watching ultimate fighting on TV or e) playing guitar.

A computer at home would lead to an internet gambling adiction that I really don't have time for.

One of the women in my group's boyfriend convinced her that he could quit his job and play internet poker all day and make the same amount of money.   So far it is working out, but he is a statistician and plays pretty regular at the boats as well.
Back on topic, I am definitely in for a ride up to Holt! I have been wanting to go the last two meets, but have been unable.

Well have to keep our Eyez peeled on KC Sport Bikz.

I'm ready.

You and I will be the back of the pack guys.  But is cool because I grew up out there and know all the back roads from my high school drinking days.

Jake, you suck. Reading this just made the fact that i don't have a ridable bike yet even more agonizing (though to be fair i know you can relate).

I guess untill then i just get to do like i did this weekend; suit up, walk into the garage, sit on my/your/our firend Dan in Maryland's bike, wait and dream.

Your not suppose to read this Toby.  I didn't want you to feel bad.
