replacing just rear tire?

i have a94 gs500 with barracuda v tires ( cheng shin i believe) The front is still in very good shape, but the rear is shot.  MOney is tight right now, I really only want to replace the rear at this time,  what is my best bet to work well with my current front tire.  I am kinda interested in choosing between, a  bt45, avon am52, or a pirelli sport demon.  But i dont want to over stick the rear of the bike w/ a sticky new tire and have the front tire pushing to bad.  oh and i dont really ride that hard,  manly just cruise to work on the gs .

i have piralle sport demons  140-70-17 and the size up grade was nice. i put it on at around 2k miles and just right now im replacing it this week end at 8k miles so, and all i do is commute to work and bike with some weekend trips around bfe area. but ya the piralle sport demons are REALLY nice and worth it i think.

Rear tires tend to wear out faster than front tires because that is where power is applied. I got 4000 miles out of my rear Sport Demon, and my front one didn't need changing. It should need changing by the time I'm done with this rear tire.

i'm not a fan of mixing tire brands . if it where me and i was where you are .
