mirror-slapping

i had a funny thing happen on the way to work today. i was happily cruising down the PCH when some guy on a (probably) late 80s BMW K75 with one hard bag flys by me in all-khaki Dickies regalia with a gold helmet.  (khaki and gold!?! ) Traffic's backed up quite a bit at a light, so i start splitting lanes to get to the front. The guy on the beemer is in front of me splitting lanes as well. There are 2 SUVs too close together to clear in front of him. He pauses, probably sees me coming up behind him, then guns it between their mirrors. His mirror clocks a driver's side mirror of one of the big cages, and he barrels through. For some reason, i didn't stop until i was almost next to the lady's door and i see the window rolling down. i immediately speak first to "smooth things over" - "i'm sorry about your mirror...it wasn't me." Hoping she'd see that some riders are respectful and i chose to stop and not further damage her mirror. i don't think it helped. i sat there subjected to a barrage of expletives and rage about the general recklessness and disrespect of all bikers. Thankfully, the other vehicle i was sandwiched between eased forward enough for me get past and miss the next 20 seconds or so of her red light lecture. i pulled up next to the guy on the beemer at the next light and flipped my shield up to say thanks, but he just nodded and gave me the thumbs up.

i love guys like that...

hahahaha, I had some one try to scoot over and block me with their suburban at a light the other day... so I reached up, folded in their mirror, and rode on thru....

I thought it was kinda funny/cute.

That's AWESOME! i don't know why i haven't thought about that before. Definitely have had plenty of opportunities...
