I'm tempted to try the Champions...and then the Iridiums, but cost-wise is probably going to preclude me from using either.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

weaselnose did you replace your fine japanese twin engine with a 5 horsepower brigg & stratton?if not then why would you screw a champion sparkplug in it?do you see pro race teams on jap equipment with champion as a sponsor?does nascar run ngk's?have you ever seen a porsche with a champion in it?run the plug the manufacturer spent much money on r&d  development

I agree with you, when I think of Champion, I think of my lawn mower, but do a search for 'Champion 809', you'll see it's pretty common for people to run them in the GS because they just work well and often better then the NGKs

I don't think it's fair to judge a spark plug by where it's produced or whether the engine was designed for it.  Manufactures do not always use a product because it is the best, but rather because it is easiest and cheapest for them.  I have seen NGK plugs in Porsches and Audis/VWs, and I use NGKs in my Audi even though VAG suggests using Bosch.  Suzuki recommends NGK simply because they probably have a deal with NGK where they will recommend NGK plugs and NGK will give them plugs for cheap.

It's just whatever works best, and for some people the NGKs don't work well

i run them cause thats what walmart carries!  :icon_mrgreen:  they've been just as good as the ngk's i had in there before. actually better (because teh ngks needed to be replaced haha).  srinath swears by them.  hey if they work then what the hell! why not

[threadjack] Nice set of Ezy-outs you got there Phaedrus! [/threadjack]

 Whatever. The photo was just to show the NGK box with the identification labels on it. Haha.
Richard died in a motorcycle accident that was at no fault of his own.  We lost a good friend and good member of this board.  Though Rich may be gone, his legacy will live on here.

Put some damned plugs in it and go for a ride.  ;)
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Dude.. I was complimenting your inventory of tools... take the compliment and appreciate it... good god man, cry me a freakin river

What's with everyone being sooo damn touchy these last few months???? I'm sorry that I have to be the one to say it. but you could all learn from Nick Villan... he can dish it out... but man can he ever take it... and that's the sign of a true GS'er... he believes in what he feels is right. The Baby GS is true and pure, in its original form... but can still be squidded to the max... but its still your GS. You guys need to RELAX and not freak out at the least little bump in the road... cause believe you me... if you get your butt hole all puckered up over something foolish like this.... you won't make it thru life with your A$$ intact.

in riches defense he clearly had a smiley face and a 'haha' in that same line.  i think he took it as a joke and responded as a joke.   now sorry but i feel that you joejude either didnt get that and lashed out for real, or you made a poor taste sarcastic post.  either way its bad.

The Buddha

The region of the country may affect your spark plug performance ...
I think this NC and SC area is supplied by a factory in Mooresville NC ... Atleast NGK's come from there, I believe they make several brands ... including autolites ... but to different specs. NGK's from there have been nothing but crap. Champions are great, and after you get over my sig ... AKA black sparkplugs ... autolites worked fine in the virago.
Just what I been seeing.
Cool.

you people can argue till your blue in the face jap vehicles are designed to run on ngk or nd ,german/swede get bosch ,general motors get ac delco, fords get motorcraft, and never screw a champion plug in anything but a chrysler product-harley or lawnmower,if the heat range is wrong for a rejet go up or down but stick w/ the plug that your product was designed for.
My Japanese Nissan Frontier was built in Smyrna, TN with a motor that was made in Mexico and came with Bosch Platinum plugs.
Sorry, I won't answer motorcycle questions anymore.  I'm not f%$king friendly enough for this board.  Ask me at:
