hey. . . just got my new GS500 today, when the guy delivered it, he started it and it worked just fine. then i get home from colege today to go and start it again, worked the first time, but the second time it sounded like there as a clicking noise from the battery??? and it wouldnt start??

could this mean the battery needs re-charging, or is there something wrong with it?

clicking usually means not enough current (ie low battery) to engage the starter.  I would take your battery to the dealer and have them charge it/deal with it because I assume it's under warranty.

its new to you or brand new?  either way... yah.... that is defenetly your battery!  If its new take it to the dealer... if its not try a trickle charger if you have one.... otherwise replace it (from napa, walmart, autozone, discount autoparts) anywhere but the dealer.

If it craps out so quickly it might also be your alternator or the charge regulator. The best battery can only work for so long if it isn't re-charged.

yeah it is new to me, but the bike has been sat in the show room for ages, so it hasnt been used. i have taken it out and put it on charge to see what happens, if nothing, then i will get in contact with the dealer and try to sort it out.

Will let ya know if it works. thanks for the help guys

If it's been sitting for a long time with no proper battery maintenance then, yeah, it's probably the battery. Plate sulfatation (or whatever you call it in English).

I'm glad to hear it runs!

but umm you charged the battery in less than 2 hours?  If it works now then thats ok, but for the future you should charge it at 1A for 10 hours

yeah no the dealer told me to charge it for bout an hour and just make sure that that was the problem. i have put it back on charge now.

They just wanted to check that it was nothing more serious
