hey guys can you tell me why my airbox is filling up with gas

and can you tell me how to fix it

i think the float height is not correct but i want to be sure before i go and start messing with it

yeah... your float is sticking open... You'll have to remove the carbs and take off the float bowls (the metal pan on the bottom.... not the plastic top) its probably a good time to replace the float needle and valve they come cheap in a set from This link.... its the third one down.... https://www.partsnmore.com/cat_index.php?model=gs&category=carb  when it gets stuck fuel runns out all the time and comes out the drain from teh top "T" and into your box.  I've had the problem... you can try wd40ing the needle first, but most likely its time to replace it altogether.  Hope it helps

can i not just adjust the floats

KYGS500E

you can try... what you have to do it bend the tang (the metal tab that the needle hangs on) up towards the carb body (making it close sooner) have you done the float hight check thats found in the faq?  Try that.  Most likely though the seats for the valve are worn and need replaced.... its like 6 bucks a carb (you have 2).  This problem doesn't happen over night either.... did something happen before this began or did you just now notice if with no cause???  Try adjusting and wd-40ing the needle first (cause its free) but my gut tells me (hope i'm wrong) that you'll just end up having to replace them... for 12 bucks.... might as well just do it and not have to tear your bike apart 2 times

lemme know what hhappens

I just bought this bike about month ago it has 9000 miles i could not tell before i got a tank and put it on it i have taken the needles out and the look good it might just need to do some adjusting

Your needles and seats may be fine as mine looked new when I had them out at 11,000 miles. Just adjust the tangs like Austin said and hopefully you'll get everything cleared up.
