Let's talk mesh

Jon from newenough customer service assured me it's mesh and he's going to fix the links tonight.  If you look closely at the picture above, you can see the little holes in the mesh.  It appears that the color places may be textile.  :dunno_white:

Here is pic that shows the mesh a little clearer.  This is off newenough as well.  Hope it helps.

Yeah, I saw that. It looks sorta mesh-y, sorta textile-y. It's a tight weave mesh if anything, much tighter than my Fieldsheer or the Vanson.

I'm going to go to a few shops in a little while here and take a look at some stuff. I'll come back and report my findings.

All their stuff is more of the "touring" type. Lots of pockets, kinda bulky, not good for what I do. Also, they sell textile jackets, not mesh.

Hm.  The Airglide 2 bills itself as a mesh jacket.  How do you distinguish between textile and mesh?  I always assumed that if it didn't have any mesh it was textile.

Another couple options I've read good things about were the Firstgear Mesh Tex jacket (except for the lack of CE-rated armor), Rev'it Airforce, and the BMW riding gear.  But the BMW stuff was supposed to be highly expensive.  The Rev'it wasn't supplied with a back protector, but had numerical sizing.  I suppose you could pull the old back protector out of your Mach3 or buy a separate one.

When I bought my mesh gear a couple years ago, I couldn't find anything better than Fieldsheer.  Although that Alpinestar one looks high quality.

Also, why don't more manufacturers offer lighter colored mesh jackets?  Seems like everything is black or dark colored.

Alright, I went and tried some jackets on. Funny thing is, despite this being Texas summer heat already, the shops around here carry very few mesh jackets.

The size small Alpinestars T-Stunt mesh jacket fit me the same way my Fieldsheer Mach 3 did. It's big in the chest and arms, but only when I sit on the bike. There is nothing smaller than the size Small.

The Vanson VentMax 3 I posted earlier fit me very very well in size small. The sleeves were about half an inch shorter than my Fieldsheer, and about a quarter inch shorter than my Teknic leather jacket. It's got some fairly tough mesh it seems, and it looks like it will flow A LOT of air. The padding and armor are in all the right places and look like they will hold up very well in a crash.

The only other mesh jackets at all the stores I went to were Joe Rocket ones, and I am not even going to bother with them.
