I bought the EBC FA231 pads and installed them properly, broke them in slowly.

1st problem- Major buzzing sound when braking, almost sounds like an ambulance and is really loud on semi-ard braking.

2nd problem- These pads seem to have poor braking power, my rotor turned blue on several occasions with major loss in braking (fading)

I e-mailed EBC and they say that the GS500 came with SINTERED pads from the factory.

Should I have put FA231HH pads instead? What went wrong?

I have since put back the old pads back in for now and brakes are strong with ZERO noise!

ASIA 1

Because your brake disk used so the surface is rugged
but the new brake pads is new!

Just use it slowly

or

Maybe use the sandpaper make it rugged then install

scratch

How many miles on the new pads?

I'll say the new pads still need to be broken-in; takes about 50 miles, or less.

Do some progressively harder stops, where you squeeze the brake harder and harder and harder.

good judgement trumps good skills every time.

I think the manual says specifically not to use sintered pads, but that's just from memory so I may be wrong.
