my first 2 vehicles were ford trucks like those, a 77, an a 78, gas guzzlers, course gas was $1 a gallon, so it didn't matter much before(main reason we are in trouble now)

It's probably a 351. I had a 77 f150 with a 351M (M meaning made in canada...which was a pain 'cause it was difficult to find parts).

Mine got about 3 mpg...which still wasn't as bad as the Scout II that my parents had; it got between 1.5 and 2 mpg...but it had like a 100 gallon tank, so no problem  :laugh: :laugh:

i thought the 351m was 351 "modified", the 351c was 351 "cleveland" and the 351w was 351 "windsor " <--canadian engine yes?

Yeah, the M stood for modified. I think they changed the internals a little on the 400 cleveland and voila 351.  And after a little research, I was wrong, they were made in cleveland :laugh:
