i set the spark plug gap at 35 i believe the floats are set right im just wondering if where i placed the fuel filter is cause it not to get enought fuel

thanks

these bikes are notorios for fuel starvation problem. Usualy, it shows on hich speed. One of the contributing factors to the problem is a poorly designed petcock on these bikes. I think if your bike was on the borderline of having fuel starvation problem, then adding fuel filter would certainly aggrevate the problem. Just to mention, in case you are not aware, there is a fuel filter inside of the tank on the tank petcock.

i sounds like the same sort of thing as me, although i just rejetted and am only having trouble now. try the mixture screw on the underside of the carbs. you can get to it with out having to rip them off, .
take note of where they are. eg wind them in tight taking note of how many complete turns, then wind them back out plus an extra half turn.
then go for a ride and see how it feels.
if there is no change wind them back to original settings. and try some thing else
have fun :icon_mrgreen:

What kind of fuel filter?  If you installed a cellulose automotive fuel filter, you will probably have starvation problems.  Most automotive filters are very good at filtering, but are also designed for pressurized fuel systems with a fuel pump.  The gravity fed system in the GS just won't push enough gas through it to run the motorcycle for very long.
Sorry, I won't answer motorcycle questions anymore.  I'm not f%$king friendly enough for this board.  Ask me at:

Some fuel filters are directional.  There should be an arrow on the body, pointing out the direction of flow.
The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

try running the bike on prime or reserve to see if its the filter, unless you put 2 filters in
