Yea Honda definitely owns when it comes to low displacement high revving hp makers. 100 hp to the liter is definitely one of their greatest achievements.

Sure those 1000hp 1.3's were NA? I recall a race series where they had 1.3's and i believe 1.4's that were running some ridiculous boost level. They were shy of 1000 hp but they were still pushing more than 30lbs of boost.

I dunno. I heard it from my thermodynamics professor. His concentration is internal combustion engines and he's crazy about cars.

Nissan Altima - 260HP (3.5L V6)
Mini Cooper S JCW (and JCW GP) - (208HP and 214HP, 1.8L I4)

Doesn't matter the drive wheels, really. Most people don't put that much power in a FWD car because of torque steer though.

tq is definitely fun.... but coming from the honda world where tq is hard to come by I can definitely say its not absolutely necessary to have fun.
New to motorcycles.... old fart with Turbo Hondas. :)

I'm so sorry that's your realistic dream car.  Don't they have BMW's in your area?

H22a1 is pretty torquey. :thumb:

ooo... nice. Not really taking advantage of it in that particular car but nice anyway. I'm gonna need some creative shoe horning and welding to get it into the CRX

well it is a 4 cylinder

So?

Honda S2000 -  237HP (2.2L)
Honda Civic Si - 197HP (2.0L)
Toyota Celica - 180HP (1.8L)
Lotus Elise - 190HP (1.8L)
Mazda MX-5 Miata - 170HP (2.0L)
Mazda MX-5 Mazdaspeed Miata -  178HP (1.8L)

Most of those are RWD too, rather than FWD (I hate FWD though).
They also all get pretty decent gas mileage, too.

Actually, I hate to screw up your research here, but the Lotus Elise uses the Toyota engine fromt he Celica, so it should have the same hp.

You're right. It does use the Toyota Celica engine. However, you're wrong in stating that it makes the same power. Lotus massaged the engine a bit to bring the power up to 190HP.

Go look at the spec sheet for the Elise.
190 HP @ 7800 RPM
138 lb-ft @ 6800 RPM

and they weigh under 2000lbs....but I'm not so sure I would want one for a daily driver. You would look like a fool getting in and out of it with the top on.
