according to Starwalts list, 04's go for about $3080 on average. But of course that doesnt take into account the market value in your area.

check it out and let us know what you think of her.

Looks like a good deal to me.
Nice looking bike, low miles and good extras
I reckon you should go for it. :)

I think it looks great. Most of them are around £2399 without any kit for an 04. So i thought it was cracking deal. Going to see it either tonight or saturday.

Il let you guys know what i think of her

Ah yes, but that also doesn't take into account the difference between a salvage titled bike, crash damaged bike, and a good clean running bike. It just adds them all together and averages them, totalled or not.

That seems a very reasonable price, I would be asking why he wants to sell, if the bike is straight it wont hang around for long at that price. When buying newish 2ndhand bikes private one thing you MUST for your own piece of mind do is a HPI check on it to see if there is any dubious history behind it or outstanding finance or HP still left to pay on the bike. If the present owner is still paying for it, it still belongs to the Finance company and if he defaults on the payments the Finance company can snatch the bike back, leaving you with no wheels and £2k out of pocket. It could even have been written off at one stage or it could even be a Ringer. I think in this day and age it pays to check.

Yea, will do basic things like check for damage initially and check that the engine numbers are all still intact. I believe from what ive spoke to him so far it was his wifes *attempt* at getting into biking for commuting around Basingstoke but she could'nt hack it and thus selling it as it is. If things look suspicious i wont hesitate to HPI check it.

Well, went to view the bike today and i have to say im slightly disappointed. The bike looked amazing when we pulled up next to it on the owners driveway. Gorgeous black sleek plastic. Not too big for me just about the right size. Bent down to get a better look and it was in poor condition for its milage (2300) All the bolts were corroded and uncared for and after looking in at the swing arm there was terrible rust on the joints - not even stone chips. This little GS had been uncared for over the winter. The chain wasn't rusty but the owner (slightly sly we thought) said it was just dirty. He had a gs500 of his own in blue and we got the distinct feeling he had been swapping parts around like the chain. Top box turned out to be a last minute thought to improve the bike - he took it off his old 125 and put it on the GS. All in all poorly cared for when you looked beneath the plastics. Redeeming features were that it looks stunning and sounded gorgeous.

After seeing how badly the bike has faired in the bad weather in such little miles it has slightly put me off a GS, it would get alot more care from me as i do ride alot in the rain etc, but i couldn't bare for it rust even after been well taken care of like it appears to have. If i lived in America (a state where its very sunny hehe) i would have snapped it up streight away and painted it and ran it and had fun. But in rainy old england i dont think it would have faired too well.

im currently in scotland, coming from new zealand where we dont salt the roads, everything is rusty over here, even at that low miles unless he always had it garaged and never rode in the rain you have to expect it. my gs has rust every where, grrr, but in saying that its just surface rust and its 12 years old,
