Hi all!!....got a gs500e

Hi all.....

I have an FZR600....my girlfriend has been looking into riding and we found a deal on a n 89 gs500e.....

Great reviews on this bike as a starter bike....and a good sport bike to learn on w/o having to replace expensive plastic when dropped

The Bike:

frame has about 19 k on it....the motor has about 11k....we bought the bike as a rolling chassis...and the other parts (including motor) were all in a box.....

we have been assembling it....its alot of fun.....

Put it all together for the most part....there were some parts missing...but thanks to some helpful members of this board...we have been able to aquire alot of the missing parts....

Today we gave it its 1st starting.....it starts on carb cleaner....but I am sure the gas in the tank is really bad....tomorrow or soon, we will add fresh gas and fire it up....

Cosmetically, its rough.....but alot of 1st bikes are.....she wants to paint it black...but I think it would be better for her to paint it a brighter more visible color...her being a beginner rider and all....

The bike cost 400 bux....not a bad deal....even got a new set of tires for it....

Just wanted to say hi and I am sure I will be posting more....hopefully I can con her into posting once it has a name and once she gets some saddle time on it......

The assemble didnt go 100% perfect...some snags were hit...but so far we have come out on top......if anyone needs some advice on assembling on...let me know.....I just did it.....

Welcome!!!!!!  It sounds as though you've had a fun project going! I hope you'll post some pics!
