There is one test, sort of described by Jackie, where you accelerate to second or third gear, the you brake before entering these cones, set your speed, and do a sweeping right handed turn around some cones.  The most important part of that is smoothly rolling on the throttle through the turn and keeping your head up and your eyes looking ahead.

I lost a point on that one because it was nearly dark at the time and I couldn't see the cone.  I looked down to see the cone and re-settled the front tire by letting off the gas.  No biggie.  Probably the easiest looking test, but the easiest to lose points on too.

reminder that when you do the hard stop (or quick stop), that you have the bike on first gear when you stop.  It's 5 points if you don't.  My class was 20 or less was passing and of course 21 or more was you failed the skills test.  Don't mean to overwhelm you or anything but just an fyi.  I'm sure you'll do fine because you got "cheat sheets" for the class

I remember both the stopping and the sweeping turn.  The stopping test was the hardest, i didn't get any deductions there on the test but that is the one that gave me the most trouble.  The sweeping turn i lost a point on cause i went in a little to hot and hit the edge of the outside cone, that was the only point i lost.  However the box S-turn test, the one you go into a box and have to do two u-turns and then exit, the lady in front of me dropped her bike during the test and that is an automatic failure.  That made me really nervous but me and the little CB125 did it flawlessly, heart pounding and all.

Passed my written test last night!  The class was pretty fun.  We watched a lot more video this time and went over PA laws.  Test was really easy.  I missed one, meaning I'm not as macho, smart, or as brave as Jake, but am happy with the score.  Actually I'm kinda ticked.  The question I missed was something about sharing lanes with another MC.  I put it was illegal as we literally just got done talking about it before the test but apparently I was paying attentio because it is legal, but not advised.  :dunno_white:

One thing I found funny was PA's helmet law.  It says you have to wear one and then gives exemptions which pretty much covers everyone over the age of 21.

Ok, I go to take my road test now.  I gotta go find my "A" game.

Passed!  My front tire rubbed a line on the figure 8 box so I lost 3 points but was perfect in everything else.  Yesterday was much more physically demanding than last week but it's all good.  Nothing for you future MSP'ers to worry about.

On a side note, yesterday was also my birthday and I got a sweet A* Spinner Jacket.  It's awesome.

Happy Birthday, and congrats on passing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!      :thumb:

congrats on the course.

I just did the ERC this afternoon.  6-hours of low-speed maneuvering on a sport-bike... I am BEAT!!!!  But it was a blast.  One of the instructors was the same guy who tested me at the MSF course 3 years ago!  Pretty cool huh?

Oh, and the box is a beeeyotch on an SV650S, but I managed to pull it off  :thumb:

There were a few cool bikes there today.  One guy brought his brand new speed triple...then layed it over during a braking drill... ouch.

LPC, we should meet up for a ride sometime now that you are official.  get in touch if you have any scoots planned.

I'm definitely ready for a ride.  Ninja guy and I are going to ride out on a snow shoe ride our instructor told us about.  It's about a 2-3 hour trip and we're going to do it soon.  I'll let you know when.  Maybe you can show us some good places too.  :thumb:

Do you still have the GS along with the SV?  I keep seeing someone on an older style blue one and wondered if it was you, it's not like SC is a huge place.

Yeah, i've seen that one around, but its not me.  I unloaded the GS a couple of years ago.  If you are up for a 2-3 hour ride, you should try 144 up to Renovo as well.  excellent ride.  Keep me in the loop and maybe I will be able to tag along sometime.
