Depends on how long he rides em for, and how hard he sets the bike down. Riding a wheelie for an extended period of time = no oil in the engine = BAAAAAAAAAD juju... Setting them down hard = bent forks = sort of bad juju..

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.

oil change don't mean sh!t... Think about it... the engine tips back.. all the oil runs to the back of the pan... no oil being sent to the engine.. engine runs without oil for however long he rides the wheely... changing the oil isn't gonna fix the damage he already caused.... ask him how long he rides em for.. there's a huge difference between pulling the front end up some on take off, and pulling a 12 o'clock wheely and riding it.. just my $.02

If you are questioning the integrity of the bike, then don't get it...  You know the guy more than we do, therefore you have a better idea of his riding technique.

I'm sure it's not the answer you were looking for, but hopefully you don't get sucked into a bad bike

And how much riding experience do you have Nick???

My Name Is Dave

Based on:

*Your riding experience (or lack thereof)
*What I've heard from you about your friends and how they ride
*What I'm afraid you'll do if you get this bike

I'm gonna have to say to stay away from it.

I would say that if he took care of it then those 3-5sec wheelies don't matter to much.  However, like the others above me, what is  your experience on a motorcycle.  If you have been riding only since your registered date, mid Jan of this year, then I think it might be a little soon to jump to this class of bike because a little opps can equal a lot of pain.  Plus insurance will basically kick you in the balls.  Just don't want you the end up a road pizza man,

regarding the bike-its probably fine. it wont be destroyed in 3k miles, even if he was a terrible wheelie rider and slammed the front wheel down. but you sound like you're not ready. Could be a good deal though.

Honda had wheelies and hard accelleration in mind with the CBR's for like a decade now...the only wheelie that will hurt the bike is one that wrecks it.

Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?
