btw, i asked 'cause the guy that sold my the bike said i need to change the oil since he did not do it before storing the bike for the winter.  any recommendation? i live in the north side and never own a bike before.

No shaZam!, I'm in Oak Park too, on the south side. We should get everyone around Chicago to go for a group ride sometime this summer, ideally after my ridercourse on July 21.

I actually can't think of a single time I've seen a GS500 around here. Or maybe I've seen one but was distracted because there isn't a single person in Chicago who rides in full gear (and not many who wear their helmets instead of keeping them on the pillion seat).

Yeah, I'm by austin and lake. My bike is silver and black (no decals) and I got a silver joe rocket. I seen a girl the other day with a gs by the bike shop on ogden and also one over by rosehill cemetary on the north side. I've riding with my neighbor, who's got a 600 yamaha. We should ride some time, I keep meaning to get in a nice long sunday morning cruise but today seemed kinda sketchy with the rain. Funny the the guy I been riding with is the only other person I've seen that actully had a jacket and a helmet on.

Also a Chi-town Native. I stayed out south (55th & Garfield area) before becoming one of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children(Are you old if you can say that was 10yrs ago ?  )

Yeah the south side is cool, I used to stay in bridgeport. Yellow helmet, I only saw the bike. Its blue with two silver stripes on the tank? Dude your right up the street and got a gs, just get the learners permit and a jacket and we'll take a little slow cruise around the neighborhood. Summers gonna be half over in a month.
