For xmas I got the "Long Way Round" DVD set. Which includes, "Long Way Round," "Long Way Down," and "Race to Drakar."

For those who dont know or havent heard of this, it is a dvd set that is over 24 hours long. It is about actors Ewan McGregor and his friend Charlie Boorman. In Long Way Round they ride from London to NYC. Basically around the world, 20 some thousand miles.  In Long Way Down they ride from the tip of scotland to the bottom of Africa, I think its 15-20K miles also. I finished Long Way Round and just started Long Way Down. Race to Drakar i know little about and it only includes Charlie (who is an awesome rider), but its some insane rally on a bike. After watching LWR and LWD I cant wait to see RTD. They ride BMW 1200s' I believe. Its truly awesome to see. Even my lady who knows very little about bikes and doenst ride at all loved it.

These documentaries are what made me keep my enduro.

I highly recommend you rent, download or just buy these. Id say just buy because they come loaded with extras and you get all three in one nice box set. They are truly amazing adventures to watch. Especially if you're into traveling and other cultures.

I have Long Way Round and Long Way Down.  I agree that they are indispensable and AWESOME.  Borrow, steal, do whatever, but watch them.  Didn't know about Race to Drakar -- now I have something else to buy!

WARNING:  These videos are addictive.  You will find yourself staying up late night after night to watch "one more" episode...

Yeah I kinda recommend not getting them.  The "one more episode" thing really starts to eat into your sleep...

I haven't seen the Dakar one, but LWR and LWD were both pretty good even if R was better than D.  I suspect BMW got their money's worth on their sponsorship too...

After watching LWR, I found www.avdrider.com.  Reading ride reports from some of those folk added a few more long nights...

Maybe this summer I'll get my act together and do something longer than a Sunday ride...
