On the clutch side case, below the ignition cover. There is a chrome bolt (not the case bolts [larger]).
Remove the bolt and connect the oil pressure gauge. At idle there should be a minimum of 20 psi. (approx).
It should not exceed 65 psi max when revved up.
Ducati is famous for bad sensors. First they come on at idle, then start coming on while riding, then stay on and finally start leaking oil :flipoff:
I went through 3 on my 996 in 13000 miles.

You can pull the plug wires off, put your thumb over the bolt hole and crank the starter.
Just be prepared for a bit of a mess. But it'll tell you real quick if you have any pressure. O0

i dont have a gauge my self, it one the things i would like to get done, as well as a volt gauge.

if its pumping oil like it should you will know, oil will go every were. it wont spray it every were but there should be good amount, also, it there has been a lost you will beable to tell.

next to each cam bearing look for fine metal partaclas (spell) if there, there then its toast. you can stop, but if there is no sign of any fresh metal or what not see how dry it is, all should be covered with a good amount of oil.

befor you spend any money, please do this, it will cost you nothing and could save time and money. just pull the cover, if in dought post pictures as best you can.
