How much are you willing to spend on a bike?

The dream garage started making me wonder about this

How much would spend on a bike?  One that you are willing to spend on a bike, not just afford.
Example I could afford the MV Agusta Brutale 910R but I can't justify spending that much on a motorcycle when I could invest in retirement or for my son's colledge education.
So I put my max price for a bike at 10K.

That's a very good question. I just went though this decision. Where I live gets cold, long winters so the motorcycling season is short. It's hard to justify spending a lot of money on a vehicle I can only use four to five months of the year when there are always so many other expenses.

Right now I set the cap at $5,000 which is why I bought the GS. In a few years I could see spending $8000-9000 but I don't know that I'd ever spend more.

I recently had this discussion with myself. My answer was $2k, and less is definitely better... stupid college making me poor....

I have re-adjusted the amount I would be willing to pay for a bike.  If I could get $3000 + for my trade in, I would be willing to pay between $8,000-$10,000.  I can justify this because I know how much I ride, and how much I enjoying riding.  So the expense is worth it.
Maybe a used Brutale?

I'd go up to about $5k or so. I only get to ride my bike for a little more than half of the year, so it just doesn't make financial sense - no matter how much I make.

As long as it starts, runs, stops, has 2 wheels, and goes vroom vroom, I am pretty easy to please.

I've always thought that I'd spend max 10-15. :dunno_white:

Thats what i did and I pay into a little more than my payment every month, hopefully i will be able to trade up in a year or so.  Also I wouldn't want to spend much more than 8-9k for a new bike or 4-5k for a great used one.
