It sounded pretty level-headed to me.     Well, except for the "If you're gonna go, go big!" guy.  The original poster never said how much experience he had, so it could be his Nth bike.  But several of the respondents asked before making recommendations, just in case.

Besides, how could say that "Buy a blue one!" is bad advice?  Orange ... OK, I could see that.     (This from a guy who rides a YELLOW bike. )  But what's wrong with blue?  (Just teasin'.)

Heh. The guy who said, "If you're gonna go, go big!" is MrVrooom. He rides an (or used to ride) an FZ1. I met him at the rally this year. After meeting him, that comment is most likely slightly sarcastic and making fun of the poster.

Yeah i am pretty sure that he meant it in that context.  I think most do unless of course this was an experienced rider asking the question.
