I"ve been repainting some fairings and figured it's a good occasion to add some color to the GS. Here's some variations on my idea.

(click for bigger)

That chin fairing is primered and ready to paint. I'm also thinking of making that headlight cowling a yellow/black affair.
I'm also thinking that the purple on the gastank needs to be replaced with a similar yellow design. But for now, I hope it'll be covered by the tankbag.

So what do you people think? Anyone handy with Photoshop is welcome to give it a whack.

I like it, expecially the chin fairing, I would just increase the pitch of the chin a little.  but the second is my fave

Nevermind everything else and paint those "early 90's sportbike white" wheels ASAP!

I like #1.  Here's a suggestion...

Take #1 and a set of french curves.  Now make the endpoint of the yellow follow a curve from the back of the tail all the way down through the belly pan.  Ditch that little yellow wart.  Now the lines will tie the whole bike together.  Keep the blue graphics on the tank, they offset the yellow at the back.

I really like the curve on the tail, how it tapers off forward.  That shows speed.  Just continue that down to the back side of the belly pan.   :thumb:

Simple geometric shapes, particularly mathematical shapes, always get noticed more than busy paint schemes.
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

I like your idea.
I'm not sure how to express the curve on the belly pan, though.
Also, #1 doesn't really have a curve, it's #2 that has the curve.

I really like the yellow/black bikes and I was going for that motif. I wasn't up to repainting the whole tank, so I was just trying to add some yellow features to a mostly black bike. But I dont think that really works with the shiny frame.

Oddly enough, the yellow actualy complements the purple, I found out after messing around with a color wheel:

I've simplified the curve like this, maybe this works?

Keep in mind the chin fairing will look better, I just photoshoped it at a bad angle and got rid of the original layer.

Here's what I was thinking:

Lovely isn't it?  Bad mouse, using paintbrush, and not my computer!

The red line is an approximation of a curve.  I would go down to Office Depot and pick up a set of curves.  Print out your bike and doodle with lines.  Maybe try some lines that tie the tank, tail, and belly pan together.  The idea is to get the eyes to move about the whole thing to take it in.  All I can say is doodle and decide what you like.   :thumb:

Not a bad idea.  I like that.

True dat. Need to do something about those rims.
Would regular laquer paint work on rims?

For a true custom PAINjob try riding without the seat.

I like the yellow accents you have, especially on the lower cowl.  I agree about painting the wheels yellow, too.  Or, black out your frame and your wheels and add the yellow accents.

Here's another variation. I though it might look cool if it matched my vintage jacket.

Interesting idea, but SQUIDLY!   :icon_razz: :icon_mrgreen:

Whatever scheme you decide on, they now have spraypaint for graphics that will wash off with water.  We will now be able to try out a design for a couple of weeks to decide if we like it.  Just don't forget the before and after shots.
