Hi all,

Just did a mod to the stock mirrors, put LED's in behind the mirror like you see on alot of vehicles and some of the front side, wrapped them in carbon fibre. Hopefully it will make me a bit more visible, was getting paranoid after putting the short stalk signals on the back of the bike to get rid of the stock ones, they are alot less visible than stock obviously.

Excellent!  I have been working on the same thing.  What did you use to get through the silvering on the mirror?  I used a dremel wire brush mounted in a drill press.  What LED's did you use?
Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Any more info on how you wired the harness inside the mirror?  Did you even use a harness or did you link the LEDs in series yourself? It looks like you wired the setup externally...was it not possible to route the wire inside of the mirror stalk?
It looks great. This might be the best custom mod I've seen on an 'f' model. Nice work. :thumb:

I just used a sharp xacto blade to scrape the silver mirror off it comes off easy enough. Used 3mm LED 1.7v 20ma 4000mcd.

Too much work involved to be able to offer it at a reasonable price...and we all know us GS owners are tightwads :icon_razz:

The LED facing the mirror side are soldered into piece of circuit board. Inside of the mirror itself has a foam piece with a weight in the middle of it. I just cut down part of the foam in the area i needed and taped it in place. The LED's in the front are just inserted into holes i drilled to fit the LEDs, they are epoxied in. They are all connect in a series of 4. There is a 10v voltage regulator running off the main harnness inside of the fairing so the LED dont have any fluctuating current.
Would have liked to run the wires through the arm of the mirror but that is solid metal. If you took the time you could cut a groove in the bottom of it so the wires fit more flush. Might do that over the winter when i have more time.
