Foam pads on front fender?

Are these little guys really necessary? I just finished my repaint (turned out incredible) and am wondering if I really need to chase down some foam and double sided tape to stick there.


Bike will be back together as soon as my fuel hose and petcock o-ring comes in from mrcycles and I'll post pics of the new bodywork.

I imagine that they are there for absorbing vibrations, therefore minimalizing noise
