What do I need to register a bike bought from out of state in CT?  The bike is being bought from NY.

Just want to make sure I have everything I need when I go to the DMV.

Bill of Sale, Title signed over to you, proof of insurance, $$ for registration fees and sales tax, I think thats all....where exactly are you in connecticut again??

Try this site:

http://www.ct.gov/dmv/

They seem to know more about registering vehicles in CT.  :icon_rolleyes:

I did look over the DMV site but I've never registered a vehicle myself (mostly my dad handled it for my car).  Just wanted to be sure.

I'm in Granby, CT.  Mainly I was wondering about the VIN verification thing, because I don't really wanna ride my bike that far (and with no plates?).

There's a form you can have a cop fill out. Do you have a local substation or something? I'm pretty sure you can download and print out the form (its been a while since I did connecticut stuff)

Also do I register before or after inspection?  If it was inspected recently in NY, do I need to do it again in CT?  Where do I go to do the inspection.. can any motorcycle shop do it, or does it have to be a suzuki dealership?  Is the Suzuki car dealership and motorcycle dealership one in the same?

Sorry, I know.. I'm a noob.

Haha... I'm glad you weren't too offended by that...  If you said "I already have the title signed over and my insurance cards and bill of sale, and I'm just checking if there's anything else" I probably wouldn't have made my sarcastic post.  :)

You'll get a temporary inspection sticker/record after you register so that you can take it to get inspected. Most motorcycle shops do inspections, call and ask them because they might require an appointment.  Suzuki car and motorcycle dealerships are usually seperate.

Hmm guess I have to find a reliable place to get it inspected, then.

Call and make sure you dont need the title notarized. When I bought mine from NC and tried to register it in GA they wanted it notarized but luckily I knew a notary and she helped me out ;)
