Cause it might be mine in a few days.  Damage is from falling at a stoplight (so he says, looks a little long for a standing still drop).. 05.

Being a resident expert of the stand-still drop  :cookoo: *ahem*...that *does* look a bit long for a fall over, but perhaps he was coming UP to the light and went down? ;)

Eh....he has the first cosmetic blemish out of the way...those are usually the toughest to bear.....is the price good, does she run well, has he maintained her?  O0

Supposedly it runs well and needs nothing.  I have not seen the bike.  I'm hoping to purchase it this weekend, he will be delivering it.  I'm confident in it's ability to run as he will be riding it here (about 80-90 miles).  If nothing is blatantly wrong with it, I'm buying it.  He accepted my offer of 2900, so pretty good deal.

Edit*  Also the damage looks amazingly superficial (which is fine by me).  The case cover and the bar end are not even scratched, that I can see in the other pictures at least.

If it runs good, just do it, 2900 is a freaking steal...
Rich, RIP.

Ya..is it a 2005? That sounds like a great price if she's in excellent running condition!

The motorcycle is no longer the hobby, the skill has become the hobby.

Power does not compare to skill.  What good is power without the skill to use it?

good judgement trumps good skills every time.

That's a better pic of the fairing. That is absolutely, positively NOT a stand-still scrape.  :cookoo:

It's still a great deal if all else is fine.... just make sure he's not stretching the truth anywhere else....k?  :thumb:

Dirt comes off.

And yeah I plan to ask for details on that fairing.  Obviously check the forks and the chain and all that good jazz.

Onlypastrana199

I know this guy actually, I've seen him around alot, including coming out of our local stealer. I don't know how the rash on the fairing got there. He's a little squidly but seemed decent and was always wearing gear. Congrats on the bike! Glad someone on here got that deal!

Yes thank you Pastrana for linking me to it.  So you've seen the bike in action?  Good buy?  Not gonna give a first-timer too much trouble?

Onlypastrana199

I'd assume not, I know he just had it at the dealer, I assume for oil change, work up, etc. He wasn't dogging on it any time I've seen him including on the 2 mile straight. I wouldn't pay attention to the dirt, its been awfully rainy here, its probably from that. I haven't checked it over though, I probably should have before posting it here.  Make a list of questions to ask him before you go to pick it up. See if you can get maintanence records, or at very least ask him about his oil changes and break in period. Check and see if the plugs are stock, iif not ask why it doesnt have many miles on it they should still be stock, check the tires for wear that would indicate improper pressure, check the oil, check the tank, check all of the lights, that inspection sticker is last years, it looks like it expired in June, ask why he didn't get it inspected, etc. If you need any help checking it over, I'd be more than willing to help.

He is delivering it (riding it here and a friend is driving him back).  Don't think you wanna drive that far just to look over a bike for me.  ;)

He said it was up for inspection recently, or it just recently expired.

How do I tell if the plugs are stock?  Theorectically wouldn't bad plugs simply be replaced with new, stock plugs?

ajgs500

Yes but a bike that new shouldnt need new plugs....  if it has new plugs something may be amiss with the engine.  And she miight drive that far... its not like she has anything else to do.

Onlypastrana199

 didn't know he was delivering. He lives like 15-20 minutes from me and like 5 minutes from Chuck. I believe stock plugs are ngks, if they were champions or something i'd ask him about them, a bike that new shouldn't need new plugs, but if he messed up a seal or something and it was burning oil more oil than normal and fouling plugs it'd need new ones.

Gotcha.

Btw, when you register a motorcycle.. do you have to bring the motorcycle to the DMV?  DMV site says something about a VIN verification..

All you need is the title and proof of insurance in most states. Nice find   O0 :thumb:

in Indiana you have to take the bike to the DMV or have a cop come out to check it
