that jacket is SCREAMING squid.
I've got the Joe Rocket Mercury leather jacket; which is much like that one, but all black with no patches. I do have that Rocket lettering across the back instead of the front (roughly the same size); which gets really annoying because a lot of people at work have asked if it stands for "crotch rocket".

personally I'd find something else. My jacket was $150 marked down from $300 so I jumped on it. Next time I'm going with minimal logos.

I really like my jacket, because Its a nice jacket when youre not on the bike, plus its very airy and comfortable

Sense the other ones don't fit right just get this one and remove the patches.  The fashion police can't catch a GS anyway.

Like a few people have said before Get it if you like it.

Pilot 22.5, Mid 65 , Mains 147.5, Mixture screw 3.5 turns out

Even if the voices aren't real they have some good ideas.

cool, its the jacket i bought

Enough said.  :icon_razz:

Seriously tho, I don't think it is bad looking. It depends a lot on your other gear and your bike, I think. If your bike is plainish and your helmet is plainish, you get probably get away with this jacket - even WITH the patches. If, however, everything else is flaming and too busy, you might as well snip the patches off if this jacket is really comfortable and a good deal. Even without snipping them off, it is not as bad as some I've seen (like others have said)

Well,

I just got back from the stealer with the jacket.  The 8" rocket ship on the back is going to go along with "rocket" on the back and on the forearms.  A few others as well.

I guess I'll keep a few patches on the arms.  Made of thick rubber or something.  Maybe they'll give me an extra foot of protection if I ever slide.  If anything, a gehy jacket is better than a T-shirt if I ever go down.

Thanks again for your thoughts/comments guys!!!!

is it a bargain? if so its fine. who cares what people think-so long as its something you can afford and provides the most protection you can afford it sounds good to me. its not pink or anything...

HAHA!  Now you're ghey!

Seriously though, keep an eye on the stitching.  I have some Joe Rocket Alter Ego pants that have had to be repaired because the stitching is coming apart.  My mom was not impressed with them at all....

I got a sewing machine in the garage.  I use it mostly for hunting gear.  I noticed that the stitching was so-so.  But that leaves me with some options to upgrade:-))))))))

CE approved armor in the elbows, shoulders, and back. Leather reinforcement in those areas as well. It's minimal to deal with heat. Texas stays above 100oF for months on end. It fits me well too, and it looks the shaZam!.

I feel for you guys in the south.  My wife is from Houston and when we go down to visit, that heat is so unbearable to me...even in June-July!!

My understanding is that the armor is the only thing that protects you with the mesh jackets.  That the mesh offers minimal protection.  But the way I see it, its far much better than a t-shirt

It's true. The mesh can shred pretty easily, but your contact points are covered by the armor and padding. I went down in mesh and faired fine.

That jacket is GHEY.. I looked at one at the dealership.. too many decals for me... This jacket is where it's at (For the record, yes, I do wear this exact jacket, yes, I do live in SW Florida, where it gets hot as balls, and sweaty/humid as them too)..

Even though I've only been wearing it for about 2 weeks now, I'm absolutely in love with mine. At 50mph, it's actually MORE comfortable than wearing just a t-shirt (yes, I tried a short run in just a helmet, t-shirt, and pants, and decided that I didn't like it, and don't know what the appeal is)

Hang out there, we may flame, but we don't hate.

My attitude is in serious need of readjustment, and I'm ok with that.
