One of my riding buddies got hit by some nasty desert crosswinds and took a spill at about 85mph a few weeks back.  She was ok except she was really sore and had some nasty burns from the gear moving around a bit.  Here are some pics of her gear.

Every zero you add to the tolerance adds a zero to the price.

If the product "fails" will the product liability insurance pay for the "failure" until it turns 18?

Jeeze! That is a HUGE impact smack on the helmet! That's insane. Glad to hear she's alright. Seeeeeeeee? Mesh jackets are surprisingly tough!

Are all the through-holes in the gear from punctures?  I take it that if the gear had worn through anywhere, she'd have more than "rug burns" from the gear.

The mesh looks surprisingly good.  I've heard to descriptions of mesh gloves failing, and have avoided mesh jackets.  Maybe TourMaster does a good job there?

The mesh basically burnt off as she was sliding down the road.  The armour in the jacket is what cause the rug burns.  SHe had rug burns everywhere there was armour.  The only place she had rash was on her hands and it was very similar to Alpha's.  She had 2 bikes a 91 Ninja 600RR and a 04 Vstrom.  The Vstrom is what she crashed on but she is still riding around on the NNNNinja.

Let's see some pictures of her gloves and her hands.

Sucks about the gloves failing :( Tell her I know how she feels.

There was really anything left of the glove they could find.  She is all healed up now for the most part.  And she wouldnt let me take pics of her when she wasnt.  The gear had to be shipped back to her because it was with the bike in the shop in New Mexico somewhere and when I saw her when she was all burnt up she didnt have it back yet.

Wow 85mph :o Could have a lot worse. All my crashes have been at low speed so I haven't really hurt myself. Good to hear she is o.k.

I was looking for a  thread about this. I just brought my bike from my old house to my new one. And I didnt like riding 30 miles without evening a jacket.

There was a thread on what suits were recommended. Does anyone have it bookmarked? Im in the market for a full set of riding clothes. And I want to know from the others if they have worn these during 90 degree days.

16 years ago, when I rode full time. I wore a full face helmet, leather jacket, full leather gloves, and boots.  But I only wore casual pants.  Never had an accident over the 35k miles I've ridden.  But eventually my number will com up.  I'm ordering a pair of riding pants asap.

Give a man a fish, and you have fed him for a day.  Teach a man to fish, and he'll sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

I have a Fieldsheer mesh jacket. It stands up to 100+ Texas heat no problem. When I do longer rides I have a pair of Fieldsheer Titanium Air mesh pants to go with it. CE armor all the way around in both things. They zip together, too. For around town stuff I just use jeans and sturdy sneakers, but longer rides I'll wear the pants and my Sidi boots.

Many of us are guilty of cutting corners from the waist down when we're riding about town (myself included).  Haven't had an "off" yet (knock on wood a.k.a. head) but doesn't make it right.

We all accept the risk when we ride.  Dress appropriately.  (and I do wear gear from the waist down when touring out of town.)  :thumb:
