My brother before the accident:

My brother during the hospitol stay:

My brother now (his temp urn):

My brothers daughter that will end up forgetting about him and grow up without him:

This is typed out akk crappy, sorry im tired as hell..

My brother was an awsome man, hard working, fun, always spending his money on my gas [haha] or a case of beer to share with his friends and would give you the shirt off his back. We were raised on STRICT helmet use, we always crap talked about people who didn't ride with helmets. We did INSANE stuff, sure yall might not like us but we had the bigger bikes (one of my reasons for buying my GS500 was to stop my old ways haha) anywhere from stoppies to seatstands and zipping at over 100 MPH through traffic (Yep I bet some of yall are cringing haha). Well we didn't wana die but felt that it was better to have a short/fun life then to have a long boring life doing nothing risky, we figured it would be quick and then its over and there is no heven or hell so why worry, you just become nothing. We were correct on the  "you don't go through much" part but didn't realize how much the family hurts :/.. Well to give you the shorter story I was involved in a wreak about 3 months ago on my CBR and walked away with a skinless asscheek, ripped off toenail and a headache, I dont think I would have made it wihtout my helmet, it was a HARD hit to the head and knocked  me out cold for about 20 mins (wasn't rider error, axel nut came off and tire locked up). Well lately I had been seeing him riding short trips to the stores without his helmet I would nag on him but he was starting to feel bulletproof and would turn my warning into an arguement so I said "the hell with it, why try?". Well fast forward a bit (3 weeks ago), it was the weekend so he went to a friends house (my sprocket was stripped so I didn't tag along) bought a case or 2 drank and went to sleep, woke up before 8 and went riding, took a nice turn at over 100 (coulda been taken at atleast 120 mph with somewhat ease with a rider with our experiance, well he wreaked. My mom gets a call on her cell from his cell

Her: whats up?
Cop: Hello, is this Thomas Trochlells mother?
Her: *Thinks "oh shaZam!, who is this"* - Yeah, who is this?
Cop: This is officer *****, Thomas was involved in a motorcycle accident...
Her: How is he, what speed?
Cop: I am unsure at this point, you will need to go to **** hospitol...
Her: *thinks about how they told my condition when she asked during my accident and calls BS*

We get ready and hall ass to the hospitol, it passed my mind that he hasen't been wearinghish elmet lately so I call up the place he was staying

Me: Hey, Roxanne Thomas was in an accident..
Her: *starts asking a bunch of questions*
Me: Go to Brandons desk and see if Thomas's helmet is up there..
Her: Yeah, all his gear is right here *she didnt understand why I was asking but I wanted to see what his chances of making it were*

Well to shorten it up more, we spent the night there, next day spend time there and find that he is 100% braindead and decide that we will pull the plug tomarro after everyone says goodbye and the "donor people" come and collect him.

I understand after 100 MPH evean with a helmet you probably are a gonner but he was awake and feeling the pain for about 15 mins untill his brain swelled and cut off the oxigyn.

You don't understand how hard it was to here that, whipe this green fluid from his nose, prepaire myself to wrap his rotting arm with a trashbag

Yep I was about to haveto wrap his arm up because they wouldn't work on the compound fracture in his wrist because he was dead and didn't wrap it enough to where we couldn't smell it. It was my moms last time to say goodbye so I wasn't going to let her haveto smell it too. So I went to the desk and asked the nurse

Me: can I get a trashbag?
Her: Yeah, one second.
Her: what do you need this for?
Me: His arm is rotting and yall didn't wrap it very well and I am not going to let my mom say goodbye toi him like that..
Her: *gives me a dirty look* (I guess she felt the trashbag was disrespectful, well I didn't know what else would stop that smell)

so the Buddha Loves You leads me over to them bedsore sheets and hands me a few, she was going to let me do it :(

So I walk up to the room and finaly she offers to do it, you have no idea what its like to prepare yourself to do that shaZam!.

I dono I just hope I can open somones eyes to wear your helmet no matter where you go, you don't feel shaZam! but your family does......

Sorry to hear about your brother, man.   Make sure you help look after his daughter.
On those days when life is a little too much and nothing seems to be going right, I pause for a moment to ponder the wise last words of my grandfather:  "I wonder where the mother bear is?"

Yep, I plan on taking full custity when I am older/more mature. As of now the mother (they have been split up since a short while after she was born) is dumping my neice off on her heroin addict mother(neices grandma). I know it will not be easy but I will do all I can to take her away from the drugs and shitty life she is in now.

Mate, I'm dreadfully sorry to hear that news about your brother.

Hopefully it serves as a lesson as to why we need to wear our gear all the time.

Don't be lazy people, just put it on!

Joshdt:

I'm so very sorry for your loss. Thank you for sharing your story here. It sounds as though you had to go through a lot and grow up fast here. Your brother was born just a few days before my son. I can't even imagine your family's pain and grief, and I send good wishes to you and  your loved ones...

Well, at least he died how he wanted to, living life like every day was his last. I'm sorry for your loss. Does this last statement I quoted mean you and your friends have rethunk your position on this?

Sorry to hear about your brother.

Make sure you continually tell his daughter stories about him - don't let her forget him.

Sorry about your bro.

I recommend seeing your neice as often as possible to make sure the mother/grandmother is actually taking care of her. I have an cousin-in-law that is sort of the same situation & lives in squalor. Because I am not blood related, I can't try for custody.

pantablo: if your asking if we are going to change our riding habbits; I hope so, I am going to try and have already taken the first step by downgrading but it wont be easy to stop all togather but I will change ALOT.

Heavy......

Ride safe.

Makes you kind of wonder, what if? What if he had that helmet on? I hate to say that, but maybe, just maybe if he had his daughter would still have him.

After this I think I'll cinch my chinstrap just a little tighter.

I have a good believe that if he had his helmet he would have survived. If you look at his pics you can tell he still looked pretty good, he was swollen but his head didnt take a HUGE impact, he had small bruising but the impact was to the back and they didnt work on him so he couldnt have been stiched and his heart was being pumped so if it was open it would have been loosing alot of blood. He was awake, talking and everything for about 15 minutes, that was because it took 15 minutes for his brain to swell and put too much pressure on the part where the oxigyn enters, since he took it so well in the begining I wonder if he had a helmet to ease the impact if he would have lived.

Other then that head injury, he had a broken wrist, other wrist had a compound fracture and alot of broken ribs. Must have felt like hell :/.

CirclesCenter

You know, personally I would have taken that 15 minutes as a blessing. I know it sounds weird, but I would at least have a chance to say something.

I really think I'd go a lot more peacefully if I could just tell my little sister right before I went, just tell her not to be sad for me.

Hell if I got 15 minutes I'd be dictating/writing something saying, "Don't cry for me, life was a blast, being with all of you was more than anyone could ask for, but I'm kinda bummed it had to end so soon, keep having fun and living it up even after I'm gone."

Yeah, maybe I should write up that will people have been talking about. Maybe call up my lil' sis and tell her I love her.  Heavy, I need a minute.
Rich, RIP.
