am i getting ripped off???

i am thinking of fixing my bike up i went to the bike shop and how much shims were the lad said $10 each i asked how much jets were he said $15 each is this a normal i live in i want to change the oil, new oil fiilter, put in a K&N air filter, break fuild, break pads, put all my jets up a size, new shims for each valve so 16 shims tighten the cam chain i have never done any of this before

is the valve ajustment the same as the how to on the site for a gs500f 2006

im doing this because i have alot of free time and i want to it

should this get rid of the rattle that is between 6000rmp and 7000rmp has any onw herd of this b4

atm my bike is totaly stock :cry:

My local dealer charged me a buck 50 or so per shim.

jets are 5-8 bucks at the dealer...here

that is like 600 canadian....
i don't know the OZ conversion

i figure shims are 3-5  range
want Iain's money to support my butt in kens shop

Yes, you are.  You don't need to change all 16 shims.  Only the ones that are out of spec.  I've never seen more than 3 or 4 out of spec, even on 4 cyl. bikes.  I'm not sure about Aus $, but that seems a bit steep for jets.  Maybe its the shipping or something.  As for the jetting, there is a chart on here somewhere that will tell you what you need, not just going up a size or two.
