I was having the same problem [finding springs] so i decided to try spacers , had to

do seals anyway. I used 25mm plastic conduit 30_35mm long, be careful with your caps

they are hard to get back in. It made a huge diferance to the bike, ialso dropped the forks

15mm ,moved the bars 50mm forward & 50mm down + straighter feels much better on

the mountain [60km up & back all bends :icon_twisted:]

                                                next time

You can get progressive springs from MCAS for about $130, then you need to either get someone to put them in, or DIY. Alternatively just call one of suspension joints if your after constant rate springs.

MCA and action suzuki are the places I go only because they are close by :thumb:

Shouldn't really reduce suspension travel if it does it wont be by much, spacers are like buying a BMW 318i sure you get the name but not much more then that not the true performance, its very much a stop gap repair it will make things feel a little better but not as much as the new springs would.
I run progressive springs in mine with 2 *10c pieces in each leg with a 15weight oil very firm but ideal and I only weigh 55kg with out the new springs there is no way I could get the old springs to feel like it does now.

Talking to he mechanic the other day the mentioned Racetech dont actually make springs for the GS unlike what they say on their website  :cookoo: I've emailed Eibach in he past and they dont make any (Racetech just resell Eibach springs fyi). Unless someone finds out otherwise, progressive seem to be the only springs around for the GS  :dunno_white:

Galahs; what are the Sonic Springs like now you've put a few miles on them? Now I'm in between job and have some money spare I'm tempted to order a set. With current exchange rates, it'll be about $140-150 shipped. Having a chat with the mechanic this afternoon when I picked up the GS after it's 42K service (eep), he recommended a set of .9's over the .85's even though I weigh 75kg gearless (while also putting the knife into Dunlop arrowmax's lol)

Speaking of which, 42k service cost me $210 inc oil, filter and new plugs, under half what an unnamed stealership quoted! New front pads are on the cards in a week or two, one is running a little slim.

Mate they were the best upgrade I've ever done to a piece of machinery.

The difference is awsome.

It took me while to realise how much more stable the bike is because you first treat it like it had the old springs. You'll soon learn you can push the bike harder into corners, it no longer dives under brakes and yet with my 0.85's it is still comfortable enough to tour on.

It gives you such a better saftey margin.

I'll agree however with your mechanic. If you want a full on performance setting I recomend you go the 0.90's or even alittle higher. But you will sacrifice touring comfort and wet weather grip.

All in all. just do it!
