I doubt there are hard and fast rules about this but so long as the frame is there or thereabout stock and it has the basic Suzuki 500 engine everything is is simply a modification.

Bars, swingarms, exhausts, lights, fairings and lots of odds'n'ends, even wheels, are commonly changed, altered and adapted on all manner of bikes for a lot of people it's half the fun.

I'd say too far is about how far I plan to one day take mine.  8)

This is true of anything though, I mean look at some Harley's or custom trucks and that sort of thing, they're far from stock.

Hell people get harleys just to mod the futch out of em. But they still call em harleys

My buddies uncle is the master mechanic at the harley shop here in Lafayette (its huge),  well I dont know of  an original piece thats still on his harley.  I dont even think the engine is the original.

Its all about loyalty I guess, to some people you could take a GSXR600 put a GS engine in it and you just got a completely moded GS.

Cor, I thought people bought Harleys, and other cruisers, because they got off on polishing chrome.
